BYU fans are a fickle bunch.........

this is not all BYU fans but I have heard more than a few echo this:

    1. BYU needs to offer DJ Harrison, DJ is hte brother of Demarcus Harrison who is a recruit for next year. As most know the early signing period for basketball has come and gone if DJ was really that good why hasnt he signed with anyone? Thats right because he doesnt have any offers. But per some BYU fans, we need to sign him so that we 1) land Demarcus (who is already BYUs to begin with, mark that down) 2) because we need athleticism at the PG (we just redshirted Mike Loyd, and we have Lamont Morgan for another year as well as Jimmer Fredette for 2 more years, lets add a 4th PG to the team) 3) Matt Pinegar is not worthy of a scholarship (I guarantee Pinegar is as worthy or more so than Harrison, but since Harrison is African-American BYU fans immediately want him)

    2. BYU fans complaining about how we need a good post player one that can finish around the basket. While I agree with this, their just arent that many out there. Look at the teams in the sweet 16 right now and lets look at the top post players: Hasheem Thabeet, Terrence Williams, Tyler Hansbrough, Blake Griffin, Cole Aldrich. Maybe I missed one or two but thats about it. Also these are all Mcdonalds HS all-americans we are not going to get those guys. Hartsock has a ton of potential and I think he is as good as it gets in terms of post players at BYU. Dominant college big men are hard to find, thats why you see most teams going with 3 and 4 guard lineups. BYU essentially had a 4 guard lineup this year.

Hey, what about Taj Gibson! a PAC 10 defensive player of the year!
    Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Typical. You are absolutely right. It is funny to me that so many people think we should bring in an unrecruited pg to occupy a spot that might exist if we take the scholarship from another unrecruited guard. At least Pinegar is a combo guard. DJ is a pure pg iirc.

We brought in every 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th cousin three times removed of Manti Te'o and where did that get us? This recruiting some marginal player in order to land a real player crap is a waste of time.

Having a guy like Plaisted and someone else like Keena Young is the best BYU can expect for an inside presence. With that being said, that's usually enough to have a moderate amount of success in college basketball and certainly enough to win a game or two in the NCAA tourney over the course of 15 years.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I laugh when people say sign DJ because we need the DeMarcus. Yes we probably do need DeMarcus, but you do not sign people that aren't worthy of a scholarship just because. In basketball you have limited scholarships available. If we want to win, you give those to people who you think will help you WIN, not people who might help you get another good player.

Historically BYU has had some great big men. An improvement in coaching could help.

So, you're saying that playing with Hakeem just isn't enough of a qualification to coach a center?

I believe Terry Nashif is the big man coach. I wonder what he is teaching.

I'm thinking it has something to do with headbands.

I like that Hartsock guy. I wouldn't like him as much with a headband.

In all honesty, I did like what I saw from Hartsock. He has more potential than "Stone Hands" Miles.

Here's a starting point for Nashif to get across to Miles: start practicing the 2 foot shot for an hour and a half every day.

It's true Miles doesn't have great hands. To say he doesn't have potential is silly. Very few guys his height have his build and the ability to run/jump well. He is quite strong and fast for his size. I suspect he has smaller than average hands. Hand size is a major key in determining the ability to catch a ball well.

Maybe he is more athletic, but if he can't hit a damned 2 foot shot than I don't know how much he's worth at his position. I'm obviously a little frustrated from seeing him miss multiple gimmes last week while Hartsock seemed to exhibit much better touch.

I think they both hit a pretty high percentage of their shots. I may be wrong on that.

On the season Miles shot 57% and Noah 58%. However Miles took 120 more shots then Noah.

Over the last 8 games when Noah started getting significant minutes.

                              Miles shot 34.7%
                              Hartsock shot 61%
