One thing I noticed when BYU played teams in the tournament with better guard play than aTm, is how often BYU would turn over the ball on the perimeter (Xavier being Exhibit A). aTm doesn't have great guards, but they have a fairly long and athletic team and BYU's lack of an inside game absolutely killed them.

This was obviously a mismatch for BYU. BYU had a better shot last year and an even better shot the year before with Xavier. I'm also wondering why BYU couldn't address some of their glaring deficiencies through JC recruiting (athleticism and a lack of inside presence). In a lot, if not most recent years, BYU has had some guy like Terrell Lyday, Mike Hall or Keena Young who's provided them with them with some athleticism/slashing ability/inside presence. This team didn't have that. Maybe I'm wrong on this, but Steve Cleveland seemed to be better able to go out and fill in holes through JC recruiting. Of course, Dave Rose is a much better Xs and Os guy.
I have seen TAMU play several times this year and they're playing good ball as of late. They crushed Missouri before the Big XII tournament.

I'm not sure it's an athleticism issue as we held our own against ASU and WF. Over the years, I've seen several unathletic teams play well and even win games. I just wonder if it's mental by now.

    Whatever "it" is, "it" sucks.
