    I actually was surprised that Utah got a 5. I expected a 6.

As for Utah "clearly" being better, yet again you overstate your case (yeah, I know you're trolling, but it's late so I'm happy to bite). Were Utah clearly better than BYU, it should not have required a missed Chris Miles free throw to win on its home court, should have had better overall record, and shouldn't have had any ugly losses (BYU didn't). I'm willing to concede the Utes the better season, maybe, but clearly better? Pshaw. Would you be willing to bet a substantial sum on the Utes, straight up, in a BYU-Utah rematch on a neutral court? I doubt Vegas would give more than a point or so advantage to either team, not exactly the stuff of clear superiority.
I bet Vegas line is BYU -3 on a neutral court. Before you jump on this neutral court business, DDD, say even at Utah and -6 in Provo.

Does anyone have a link to the oddsmaker's rankings?
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

I don't think they do a BB poll.

Sagarin would have BYU a one point favorite. That's as accurate as you'll get without seeing an actual Vegas line.

I'm a CATS fan and am shocked the NCAA would put 2 teams from the west in Miami. Here's some common opponents between the Utes and the CATS:

Utah 69- Cal 72 (Arizona swept by Cal)

Utah 74- Weber St. 64 (Arizona over Weber)

Utah 66- Gonzaga 65 (Arizona over Gonzaga)

Utah Wins 2 of 3 against SDSU (Arizona over SDSU)

Utah Splits With UNLV 10 point margin each time (UNLV handles Arizona)

Not sure what this all means other than this likely will be a very competitive game...depending on which Arizona team shows up (the Arizona who beat Gonzaga or the Arizona who laid down for UNLV)

The best thing is asu has to goto Miami too. Talk about no respect LOL

Actually, I was annoyed at Santos. I didn't pay any attention to your thread starter. Sorry.

As for who's better, Utah's MWC record was 15-4, BYU's was 13-5. They played in the same round robin tournament at season's end after tying for the title. Utah won the tournament. Is that not the established means of determining who's best in sports? Case closed. Or would you rather have a vote?

I was questioning your dogmatic use of the word "clearly" in describing the Utes' superiority. Utah is the clear MWC tournament champion, but that doesn't mean it is clearly the better team. If it were, would the oddsmakers and computer polls have BYU and Utah as essentially a push in any head-to-head matchup? Your insistence on black-white distinctions in team superiority is curious; I thought you were a man of nuance. But having wasted the time to write that, I concede the thread has become clearly stupid.

You're not annoyed at me. You're annoyed at the entire rest of the world outside the stupid committee that relied on a flawed RPI to overseed Utah. Vegas lines, Sagarin rankings, and ESPN commentators are all dissing on your Utes compared to BYU.

I have to agree with PAC that this thread has become stupid, so I'm sure I'll regret the energy going into typing this, but I just have to ask: Do you know the definition of round-robin?

This Arizona team is as talented as any the past 25 years. I had a Washington fan tell me yesterday that he wasn't happy about playing the SEC tournament champ Mississippi State (13th seed) but he'd really hate to be playing Arizona. I saw Arizona nearly beat Washington at Hec Ed. That Hill guy (who's had a bad ankle lately) is a monster; he averages 19 pts. and 12 boards and can hit 3's. Arizona also has some amazing sharp shooters. In Tuscon Arizona scored 106 points in forty minutes drubbing outright Pac 10 champ Washington. It beat UCLA (ranked 17), Washington (14), Gonzaga (10), USC (Pac 10 champ) and Kansas (13, Big 12 outright champ). How many star caliber teams (besides Utah) has BYU beaten this year? Ever?

I'm expecting the worst against Arizona. I think it's better than any MWC team and I'll be pleasantly surprised if the Utes win.

                            Wow...
a legitimate 5 seed, nay a team that deserved better, already backpeddling to a 12 seed?

I didn't expect this Utah team to be a five seed. I think the whole country is extraordinarily balanced this year. There's not a lot of difference between the MWC champ and the fifth place MWC team (Vegas), as you've seen. Likewise between the MWC champ and Arizona. Arizona has underachieved. It's had injuries, a choacing change. It probably won't retain its interim coach who is unproven and not made the most of the situation. But the team has a lot of talent and could easily beat Utah. This is the obvious upset pick.
