We all know Utah isn't 5 seed good. Utah's 5 seed is total high school election stuff. But it's cool to have that going for you. I've seen Arizona play live this year and I can see why the experts pick Arizona. They have a big guy who's total NBA material, and several othre studs. Arizona is like Georgetown this year, loaded with talent and underachieving in a tough environment.

BYU, on the other hand, is like Utah State; outside the cliques that count. BYU has no cool points.

You tricked them with an RPI formula that didn't count your worst loss. That's a really quirky lucky thing. I wouldn't be too confident in your standing.

Look at the percentage of teams from each conference to get in:

Big Ten: 63.6%
ACC: 58.5%
Big East: 43.7%
Big 12: 42.8%
SEC: 25%
PAC-10: 40%

Now some non-bcs teams:
MWC: 22.2%
A-10: 20%
WAC: 11.1%
MVC: 10%
Conference USA: 8.3%

As SU would say, speaks volumes.

My point is that there is a double standard when it comes to inviting at-large teams. The NCAA loves to point to RPI as a factor when making invites, yet when it comes down to it, RPI is ignored and the committee favors the BCS conferences.

Didn't Syracuse not get in a couple years ago causing Boeheim to have a meltdown of CB proportions and go on Dan Patrick and any other radio/TV that would listen and say that the tourney should be expanded to whatever number it needed to include his team?

I don't think it is just the non-BCS guys that feel they get screwed.

Also much like the bowl games, this isn't some pure sporting event to find a champion. It is a way to make millions or billions of dollars. More people want to watch a game with Michigan basketball team than the San Diego State basketball team.

If we want more at large bids for the non-BCS conferences we need to get rid of the auto bids for the 14, 15 and 16 seed conferences. That would make the tourney better anyway. SDSU/Michigan State would be a great first round game. Meanwhile Robert Morris will probably lose by 20, and give MSU a chance to rest starters for the second round game against USC.

Yes, that happened. But that is an exception. When it comes down to it, the non-BCS teams will get snubbed.

Dick Vitale is annoying to me. But he was giving it to Jay Bilas and Digger Phelps on the selection show. He even pulled out the Duke card. He got both those guys underwear in a bunch. In fact they cut away from Dick to the studio while he was still talking and Digger was doing some pointing, stabbing thing at the monitor it was hilarious.

Dumb title. I don't think Dickie V got owned at all. Some of the bets bits are Jay Bilas saying that the little guys can schedule the big boys and then Dick saying that he's absolutely wrong and that he tried to schedule Digger all the time. I hadn't seen that, Surfah. It was fun watching Bilas and Phelps - two of the bigger shills for the alleged power conferences - trying to justify the BS about mid-majors being able to schedule the pussies from the BCS conferences.
