I would tend to agree with you had BYU been one of the last teams in. But, as an 8 seed, they were solidly in the tournament, so I think BYU was in no matter what.

Also if BYU was on the bubble they would not have gotten an 8 seed. They would have been a 10 or 11. The last team in was clearly Arizona, followed by Maryland, Dayton, and Michigan.
