North Florida blog about trip to BYU

Not really that interesting, but it may get better after the game. Something about Kenny Loggins and chicken meatballs at Ottavio's.

UNF was 3-26 overall and 1-15 in the Atlantic Sun Conference last season. The blogger says he hopes it's a good game tonight. Yeah right....

I understand BYU has North Florida, Rice and Cal Poly in this little tournament but 3 nights in a row and 4 games in 5 days concerns me.

Tonight should be like a scrimmage with a junior college. That UNF roster looks like it has a bunch of guys who averaged 8-10 points in high school and they're also young. They lost 3 of their top 4 scorers off that 3-26 team.

I agree with you that playing three games in a row probably isn't a great idea. It increases the risk of injury and could get our guys worn down a little bit by Saturday night. I'm not too worried about a loss, as I think BYUs depth and conditioning is better than the teams they are playing. I definitely don't like what playing a team like UNF does to the RPI, though.

It's unfortunate, but kind of funny, that even beating the crap out of UNF will cause BYU to take a hit in RPI and the computer rankings, while Utah losing to that vacation bible school will put nary a statistical blemish on the Utes (although by any other measure, it's gotta hurt). If you're gonig to blow one, let it be to a Div. II team, I guess. I was struck by this thought when I looked at Sagarin's ratings this week, and Utah appears untarnished with a 1-0 record.

          Ah - you are beginning to understand Boylen's plan . . . .

"God made the angels to show His splendour - as He made animals for innocence and plants for their simplicity. But men and women He made to serve Him wittily, in the tangle of their minds."

Yes, but after one year I thought I understood Crowton's plan as well. Seriously, I like Boylen and wish him many years of moderate success at Utah.

My wife saw this post and said "I'm surprised Mormons know what vacation bible school is."

              My response: "What is it?"

After hearing her explanation, it sounds like the most analogous LDS program is Girls' Camp.
