  • With Rice at UNLV...how long before BYU plays UNLV?

I'm thinking now with Rice at UNLV...the games continue between the two rivals. May be as early as next year. These games are just too good, too fun to let them slip into history.

Also, Rice hires an assistant from SDSU. How long until we renew our games with SDSU? Those are good ones too.

Hmm... Good motivation for me to remain active I guess.

Greg Wrubell just said that BYU has no desire to play UNLV.

Does not look like it will happen anytime soon if at all.

That's funny because when we announced independence in football, everyone down here said how stupid and didn't we were and how unlv shouldn't ever help byu with scheduling in the future. That slowly morphed into "we won't play them in football, but the basketball rivalry is pretty good," which then morphed into "whatever happens, we have to keep this rivalry alive for a long time!" Now byu says "nah." Makes me laugh.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

The article actually implies that the decision not to play is mutual.

Don't anticipate Rose and Rice facing each other anytime soon on the hardwoods. Neither coach is anxious to schedule the other, and the fact BYU and UNLV will be in separate conferences next season is fortuitous, relative to the coaches' professional and personal relationship

So unless Wrubell tweeted something different, it sounds like it wasn't one side or the other.
