I do think that Rice put together a solid staff. It makes sense as UNLV has some spare money with how little they are paying Rice.

I'm not sure how much spare money they've got. Nevada higher education is being hit on all sides, and its only going to get worse.

I like the staff, notwithstanding. If they do well, we'll see if UNLV can keep them together.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I think UNLV's program has just made tremendous strides forward. I also think BYU will play them every year.

          Augmon is a great hire.

The number one thing you want to impress upon elite high school recruits is that you know how to get them to the NBA. You know that's what Calipari and Pitino are telling kids. Augmon gives Rice a lot of credibility in this regard.

I wonder if there was much interest from either side in him returning to BYU to replace Rice. I would imagine Rose woulda been all for it but not Schroyer (been there, done that), unless that was his best option.

Maybe if Rose had offered Schroyer the "Associate Head Coach" title or whatever it was that Rice had, he would have considered BYU. But maybe bringing in some fresh blood is better for the program anyway.
