I once hit 4 out in the "all church" tournament. Older people will know how big that tournament was and the finals in SLC. Yes, it was in the Deseret News and SL Trib.

Now that I have quelled the other side of the family crap, we are on to the championship round tomorrow. Grandson two (in chronological order only) will be watching with grandpa. I am trying to convince my daughter her boy doesn't need to compete with my boys son in sports. Many, many other good things in life that count.

    • I really hope BYU can find a defender that can stop the dribble penetration. A perfect gameplan for Gonzaga would be to get to the basket on the dribble and let their big guys clean up any misses.

      • Obama has been nails this tourney. He's ranked #502 on ESPN out of a few million (I'm 400,000-something after rising into 5-figures this afternoon). Anyway, he has us beating the Zags tomorrow so mark it down.

do you really think he filled it out himself?

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

Why not? He's a big basketball fan, and it's not like hiring an expert would have made this any more likely. Obama's bracket is better than all the experts'.

Shame he's a bad president, but his 3 brackets have all been really good, as I recall.

Yeah, I'm sure he filled out his own men's bracket. But I bet he needed help with the women's side.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

              • It is no surprise to anyone that I am not an Obama fan when it comes to policy.

However, pundits, not just conservative ones, have been working him for making the picks when there is the Japan crisis and Lybia going on. Also the budget thing. What the hades are wrong with these people. The guy isn't allowed some down time to fill out a tourney sheet?

They honestly think it looks bad? These elite types really do think the country as a whole is made up of idiots.

Policy, the guy stinks. As a decent human being, I see nothing that makes me think he isn't.

Reminds me of when Bill Clintong got in trouble for wearing a "Rudy" baseball cap while jogging. From the movie. Rudy Giulianis gubenatorial opponent was mad apparently.

                  Give me a break.

Seriously. I definitely skew conservative, but anyone trying to make a stink that Obama filled out a bracket and has a problem with this needs to seriously f*ck off.

But what does is my outburst last night. Totally uncalled for.

CJF, I'm truly sorry. Ad hominem comments are never justified.

There's a high correlation between me working late (as in 3am here) and being an absolute ass. Sorry to all/
For what it's worth, I've noticed that you've become positively courteous around CUF lately. Not that CUF is a moderating influence, it just feels like you are much happier in your life, and that reflects in your posts.

dunno, just don't see him having enough time to really follow college basketball. I see it as a publicity opportunity (who was the last president to publicize his bracket?) and he wanted to make sure that he looked good so he gets an expert to brief him on the state of basketball or just fill it out for him. He may have been present, but if he really has enough time on his hands to keep up w/ college basketball then . . . maybe you're right, maybe he did have the time, can't figure out what else he's done with his time.

Viking, don't lose your hard edge. They forced me into submission and now I'm boring.

                          • My "waking" dream (literally) this morning was that when the game vs the zags came on CBS, verne lundquist read a statement from none other than Thomas Monson stating he has personally met with Brandon Davies and that he was impressed with the integrity of the young man, especially in admitting error. He had made a serious mistake and broken his promise to the university but that god is a god of love and forgiveness as well as a god of justice. Let the boy play basketball.

                            Serious. Crazy, eh?

ohbama definitely is a sports fan. He invites NBA ballers to come play pickup ball with him, for example. Any president has the pull to do that, but he does it because he is a fan and wants to take advantage of his ability to call in that sort of favor. Also, when he talks about hoops, he sounds like he follows the game. When the lakers went to the white house (twice!) he was giving Kobe and Fish a hard time about the Bulls (his hometown team) and making jokes about how Kobe lost to Detroit in the finals. Yes, it is possible to be briefed on all of this, but he is a guy and he hasn't been president his whole life. I'm sure he follows sports.

If anything, I would think his advisors tell him to stay away from sports due to constituency ties. Part of me wondered if this was a perfect year for him to pick Ohio State, with Ohio usually being an important battle ground. Yet, he picks Kansas to beat Ohio state. This sort of thing can lose you some votes amongst nut jobs, which is probably why we usually see presidents steer clear of it all. Also, Obama runs a serious risk of looking like SeattleUte by filling out a bracket and being wildly incorrect every year...hurts his credibility in an unnecessary way.

I remember when Hillary started rocking New York sports hats. Maybe it was a yankee hat? It was obviously contrived and she took heat for it. I'm glad ohbama has always been a loud and proud Bulls fan.
