  • Longest season ever

I keep waiting for this effing season to end. It seems the basketball season is longer than ever. I keep thinking this weekend must be it, then I look at the schedules and can't believe how many games are left to play. Can't wait till it's in the dust bin of history.

I'm actually hoping Utah makes a little run here at the end and winds up in the NIT. In my estimation, that would be worse than simply fading out over the next week.

They still have a pretty good shot at the CBI right now.

        Don't get our hopes up....

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Please no. I want a mercy kill. I want the whole thing over with. BYU AND Utah's seasons over with.

He doesn't know the real you like I do. I know this season has been hard for you. Hang in there, it is almost over. But I warn you, it will get worse before it gets better.

I think Utah is actually safely off the CBI bubble after their three game win streak.

Good news -- the CBI has a new sponsor: Zebra Pen.

Last year, Saint Louis made a deep run in the CBI. Will Utah and Coach Majerus meet up with CBI glory on the line?

Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I know you don't watch Utah games, regardless of the sport, unless they are good haven't follow your beloved team as closely this year. However, contrary to what you may have heard, conference play is 16 games long, just like every other year. There will also be a conference tournament held in Las Vegas, Nevada the 2nd weekend in March. Following the conference tournament there will be a little get together known as March Madness that runs through the first weekend of April.

I can understand your confusion seeing how today is the first day of March.

FYI. Utah's season will also finish up the 2nd weekend of March starting in 2012

                    Shortest season ever.

I keep hoping this season will never end. It seems the basketball season is shorter than ever. I keep thinking that this weekend is only the beginning and then I look at the schedules and can't believe that there is only two regular season games left to play. I want to prolong the wait until this season is remembered for time and all eternity.

Since we have to finish above .500 to earn a berth, I'm gonna say it's unlikely.

By sweeping our final two regular season games, Utah would have to go 3-1 to finish above .500.

By splitting our final two regular season games, Utah would have to go 4-2 to finish above .500. This would mean winning it all in Vegas before bowing out in the first round of the NCAAs, making a plus-.500 finish irrelevant.

Get swept in our final two regular season games, and finishing .500 becomes irrelevant, since the only way we could get to .500 is to win the MWC and two games (or more) in the NCAAs. Not gonna happen.

Is this a CBI rule or NCAA rule? It's odd (but presumably completely accurate) that teams are eliminated from CBI consideration potentially long before the NCAA tournament.

CBI. You'll get an occasional sub-.500 team in the NCAAs.
