If BYU wins out, including the MWC tourney I think they'll be the #1 in the West. However, I do buy into the fact that the committee has screwed them over in the past, so if they lose in the MWC tourney (outside of the final) they'll be dropped to the 3 line. So that is my caveat.

BYU - If they win the MWC tourney, I think they are a likely 1 seed. Right now their resume is the 4th most impressive. They have gotten all sorts of attention/adoration and have the likely NPOY on their team. If they lose in the MWC final they will get a two seed. If they lose in the semis they will get a 3 seed. I think they will lose to UNLV in the MWC tourney final and get a 2 seed.

I think SDSU will lose in MWC semis to UNLV and drop to a 4 seed. UNLV will rise to a 7, maybee a 6. CSU will go to the NIT. USU will get a 9 or 10.

For #1's I think it will be Pitt, Kansas, Ohio State and either Duke or Texas depending who gives a reason to be there. I think Duke will lose in Chapel Hill so it will come down to who impresses more in conference tourney. I lean towards believing Texas will rise to that occassion. Time will tell, but I really think that the fourth #1, at present, is BYU's to lose...or at least will be after UNC beats Duke this week.

CSU had the chance to participate in a play-in game for the NCAA tournament, but getting dominated by AFA crushes those dreams. Too bad, really.

I still feel like BYU would really benefit from losing in the 2nd round of the MWC tournament. It takes the pressure off from stringing together so many consecutive victories; it gives them an extra day of rest; and it would provide additional drive. It seemed like getting upset in the WAC tourney aided Utah's run in '98. I'll agree with TU and say both SDSU and BYU earn 2 seeds.

Anyone know if the number 1 seed in the West is a Friday/Sunday schedule or a Thursday/Saturday schedule?

BYU (As long as the West number 1 is a Sat/Thursday schedule) If Sunday is an issue they flip with Duke

2 Seeds
Texas
Duke
Notre Dame
SDSU/Purdue depending on how their conf tourney goes
