    Leaving on a Jet Plane

I keep hearing people talk about how rad it is to go the MWC tourney, but I just really have no desire to go. Never have. For me, its always been about the big dance. The first 4 days of March Madness are the best 4 days of the sporting world for me.

So, I'm taking my chances, skipping the roadie invite from Steelblue and fam for the Utah game this weekend, skipping the MWC tourney, and keeping my fingers crossed that the Cougs get a good draw for the first round of the Big Tourney.

If they draw Denver, as projected by Lunardi, then I will be hopping on a jet plane with my firstborn in the wilderness and making the great trek to the Rockie Mountains to cross off an item from my bucket list.

So, please, please, please, make it happen Cougs and selection committee. I'm not getting any younger and I've got all my chips placed on Denver for my one chance to see my team in the second round of the Dance and to see The Jimmer in person.

Im with you. I am debating attending the MWC. I am definitely attending Round 1 of the real tournament.

Even if I go to the MWC, I dont plan on watching all of the games. How do you guys sit through games like Wyoming vs Air Force or New Mexico v TCU?

with the honeymoon standing to rape my pto, i'm not going to be able to go to both. if we do end up in denver, i will probably fly in with a standby ticket on the day of the game, and head right back to the airport after the game.

Would you plan on just the first round or would you try to take in Thursday and Saturday games?

If BYU ends up with a 2 or 3 seed, playing the 14 or 15 seed may end up being a snoozer, with coach Rose pulling his guys to save them for the next game if things get out of hand. I would almost feel obligated to extend the trip a couple of days if that were the case.

For me I like watching the NCAA tournament as a whole. I have been to games before, and will probably get tickets again next year when it is in Portland again, but I always miss out on being home watching all 16 games on Thursday and Friday.

The conf tourneys are a fun time to be in Vegas, tons of games, constant action and you get to see BYU in person.

I go every year. I never watch all 4 games on Thursday, even when I have all-session tickets. So I don't watch the games you mention. Just hit the BYU session on Thursday, both games Friday, then the final on Saturday if BYU is playing.

I agree with this. Going to the Sweet 16 games at the ESA last year will always be a treasured sports memory, but even though the first-round games up at the Huntsman in '06 were exciting and fun, it did kind of suck having to miss the other games.

Vegas during conference tourney weekend is really awesome. That Thursday, the games start at 9am and don't end until 10 or 11pm. It's definitely something that needs to be done at least once.

We go to Vegas every year for the tourney, but never attend the games. It's more fun for us to watch in the sportsbook.
