No kidding. That would be a huge upgrade for Utah. If UNLV were dumb enough to force Kruger out, he'd be a no-brainer hire, if he'd go to Utah.

I don't think UNLV is that dumb. I do think that Utah would have a good shot at hiring Kruger. He turned us down when he took the UNLV job, but I do think he would have ended up at Utah had UNLV not come calling.

I think he's a good coach, but I question his "recruiting" strategy. I don't know that I've ever seen a program take so many cast-off transfers who for some reason or another it didn't work out for them at their previous destination.

Then again he could take the genius route and sign 5 JC kids.

The idea that Kruger is to UNLV bball what Sanford was to UNLV football is pretty out there, imo. UNLV was horrible during Sanford's entire tenure, whereas Kruger has elevated the bball program somewhat, although admittedly not to its former heights.

Still, it seems strange to be arguing for Kruger's ouster. But what do I know.

Kruger's a great coach. As an AAU coach, his D was the D I tried to model. I love his defensive philosophy. They get after you. His offense could improve a little. But I consider him one of the best coaches in the game.
