    Carlino

    Sounds like he's coming to Provo. The kid strikes me as a drama queen, but I'm hoping he works out.
    So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

    I haven't used that emoticon yet.

      I'm concerned about him too. He also seems like he's got an over protective dad. I fear what will happen if he's not starting and/or getting significant minutes a few games after he becomes eligible.

        I'm glad we got him.

        With that said, tt seems like all the moves/transfers and the heavy dad involvement (if I heard correctly) are red flags. But clearly he's talented in a position we'll be lacking.

          The good news is that he and his pops both have to know that he's out of red flags and goes to auto classification of "toxic" if he messes this up so they should be committed to making it work.

          Unless, of course, they're just insane in the brain.

            Hopefully, since he will have been here an entire year prior to seeing any PT, he'll have become inculcated in the BYU culture.

              The problem is, guys like that never seem to understand that the world doesn't revolve around them. I'm sure they don't think there are any red flags at all. Just injustices against themselves. I'm just speaking in generalities here.

                One of the best ways to handle a drama queen is to put him a system where he handles the ball and shoots a lot. So at least we've got that going for us.

                He has the highest grade from ESPN recruiting of any recruit BYU's has gotten. Harrison was a 91, Carlino a 93.

                  So.... he doesn't have the highest grade.

                    Grade =/= ranking.

                      Who said anything about ranking? We're talking about grades. Carlino's grade is lower (by 2 points) than Harrison's.

                        Yes, and your A- is higher than my A.

                          Here's why I am bullish on the kid. Despite having accepted Lute's offer at Arizona and then moving on to accept Tom Crean's offer at Indiana, Howland still pursued him. That to me says something. Howland was willing to take him warts and all. Add to that, Ben seemed genuinely upset or at least bothered by his transfer and even expressed remorse about not playing him in the Montana game as that may have kept him in Westwood. I also like that he played with top talent and on good teams (he and Nick Johnson were teammates in AZ before he moved to Indiana and his team in Indy was ranked #1 in the country parts of the year). I think that makes a huge difference than some kid that dominated against crap.

                          Of course he could be a huge headache and never live up to the hype but I am hopeful. I like that he'll have basically a year of practice with the team before suiting up.

                              The #1 team in Indiana is almost always a top 25 national team. Indiana can seriously crank out the D-1 players, relative to its population.
