Watkins certainly isn't a PG. He's a short fat kid that dribbles a ton, but he's clearly not a PG. 4-17? He had his 6th game already this year where his turnovers equaled or were higher than his assists; only 3 games where he had more assists than turnovers.

Any team could box and 1 the Utes, stick a guy right on Clyburn and tell him to not even pay attention to the other players. The rest of the zone could just pack it in since neither Watkins, or Kupets, or Glover, can hit the three.

Gotta love it when your head coach tells the announcers before the game, "We don't really run anything on offense. We just try to play fast." And then your team scores 22 points in the first half.

Boylen is not a good head coach. I'm hoping the Pac-12 invite gives us the leverage to pull the trigger this year instead of next.

Are there many head coaches who don't decide substitutions? Because there were multiple times just in tonight's game where the camera was on the side of the court in front of Utah's bench and you could see Boylen playing cheerleader/extra defender when an assistant coach would go down the bench and send someone in the game. That seemed odd to me to happen that frequently in such a short span of time.

I thought this was a guy that was going to be bringing a fat ol' playbook with set after set? Unreal how little Clyburn had the ball in his hands.

It would be a damn shame to not get Clyburn a real coach next year. He is very good and he is getting wasted right now. I don't think it is a very novel idea to tailor your offense to your best offensive player and run an offense to get him the ball.

I thought Jiggy played pretty good, relatively speaking. Agree with others that the team should more actively harness Clyburn's abilities during the game through plays, etc.

Boylen doesn't seem to be able to leverage the height of Foster and Washburn to help the team. His tall men seem to play down to the height of Jiggy, Hines, and Kupcake. This is why I've said the team "plays short."

Like BGRTHMEGO, I find Boylen's game management baffling. He coaches players during the game. He cheers the team on. He's not managing the flow of the game. It's like he can't shake his assistant coach persona during the game, and wastes his Head Coach time doing the things an assistant should do.

Boylen should study game film of Dave Rose. Even better, study Dave Rice.

I think Boylen is going to win enough games this year to justify being kept for Pac 12 year 1. The talent is much better on the team this year than it was last year, but there are still massive holes. However, I think Boylen will (fortunately or unfortunately) do enough to save his job for another year.

They're what? 6-3 right now with three official non-conference games left (I think we'll play someone after Butler before Portland). So there's a halfway decent chance that he goes into conference play with 8 wins...maybe 9 if we lose to Butler and play another team that has lost. If he beats a few in conf that he's not supposed to, it's not out of the question that he pulls an 18 win season out. I think that'll be enough in Hill's eyes to save his job.

Edit: Boise and Portland both have decent records and could potentially be losses. If he goes into MWC play, then he'll have a tough time keeping his job without finishing top 3, IMO and that is a virtual lock that he won't do that.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Much like TV numbers it is all about penetration. Since there are roughly 10 million BYU fans, that represents about 1/1,000,000 of the BYU fanbase. Since there are only about 18 Utah fans (I'm not counting BYU haters) that represents about 1/3 of your fan base. Speaks volumes.

Really? I guess if he were on my team and was a freshman I'd feel pretty happy about his confidence. But that play as a junior was really not good. And he's one player on the team that I don't know if he'd improve at all if he was given more structure. It seems like he is what he is, and what he seems to be is someone who will beat up on some lesser competition but then really get exposed against solid and good teams.

Oh, I don't know. Utah stubbornly stuck with Michigan to the very end. They even pulled closer. Could be because Utah left its first string in till the closing bell, dont know what the Michigan coach did with his players.

Anyway, if Utah lost only by 13 or so, I think BYU would give Michigan a run for their honey.

And I meant above that Jiggy played better last night than he normally plays.
