Jackson Emery predicts BYU goes undefeated.

I was just on the Yahoo! front page and saw the BYU headline.

I really dislike stuff like this. I'm glad he's feeling it, but I'd rather go with the old one game at a time mentality than increase the the focus on the big bullseye BYU will be wearing this year anyway.

Agreed. If they would start the season with the idea that they're starting from behind (a la Boise State), I would be much happier.

I think it is different from player to player. Some players need to believe they can and should win them all. Some players need to believe they will lose them all if they don't do something special right now. I was always fine with the latter but I had some very good teammates who were the former.

Sweet. I'm so glad I didn't throw out my Quest for Perfection t-shirt.

          Talk about a bold prediction/guarantee:

"We believe, looking at our schedule, that we can go undefeated. We know it's gonna be tough, but we have a lot of confidence in ourselves, and hopefully we can do that," Jackson Emery said. "I think every year we have that kind of attitude that we'd love to go undefeated, but it's hard 'cause you gotta go on the road, you gotta play teams that are really good...but the kind of confidence that we have in our team is that we can win every game."

This has all been discussed in the BYU thread but establishing Davies and Collinsworth inside will be key (not in going undefeated but rather challenging for the title and making a deeper run in the tournament).

I don't see anything wrong with that. I don't see a problem with a player that thinks he can win every game if he prepares properly. As long as his belief doesn't hamper his preparation, what is the problem? BTW, this is neither a prediction nor a guarantee. It is a statement of belief.

I know Goat believes Davies is the key but I think it is Collinsworth the elder. In a guard-centric team, I like the bigs with good feet over the bigs with good hands. Additionally, Collinsworth can play the 4 and the 5. Last year we had to go with Miles or Davies at the 5 and Hartsock or JT at the 4. This year we can go with our best reserve big at either spot. I think that should allow us to defend and rebound more effectively.

DDD, you will never sit with me at a BB game or in my section. We cheer wildly for everything Jackson does.

Why? Is it because he looks like an EQP?

When did you punch Jackson? Since I imagine you don't currently desire a confrontation with a man so totally intune with his inner Vlade you can't possibly currently want to punch him, right?

Meh.. whoopdedoo.. He didn't guarantee or really predict. He said we "believe" and "hopefully". No big deal.

Granted I haven't watched Davies a ton, but from watching most games last year that his footwork and moves off the block were his strength, and it was his size that was the limiting factor in most cases.
