  • Just got back from Lunch with Clark Kellogg and Dee Miller

A buddy of mine asked if my wife and I wanted to come to Lunch with him today to meet Clark Kellogg and Dee miller.. He won a free lunch with them at an Auction a while back and just got the notice that it was going to be today.. The Gahanna Jefferson Basketball Team captains were there along with the coaches (They made it to the Final 4 last year and beat No. 1 Northland which was a HUGE upset)..

It was really really cool to sit there and let us ask questions.. Interesting enough BYU came up when Dee Miller talked about being recruited to Tenn. and Ohio State. And how he watched them (BYU) pass like crazy in the Holiday Bowls.. He ended up staying at Ohio State instead of going to Tenn. But I wasn't even the one who mentioned BYU. But he loved how they would pass like 50 times a game and OSU averaged like 7.. It was kind of a joke, but he was very happy he stayed at home... Dee Miller also spoke about Braxton Miller (Top QB prospect from his home town). The Dispatch reported they were family but it is not true. Although they live 4 houses down from his parents home so they are a close family..

I was getting ready to ask them what they thought about BYU going Indy and the dynamics of College football in a few years but ran out of time.. Both Dee and Clark spent a majority of the time mentoring the HS kids. Giving them advice and to stay out of trouble and stay away from the party scenes etc in College.. It was an awesome experience to see these guys take time to focus on these impressionable kids and try and help them to stay on the right track.. I didn't feel comfortable about interupting that (Although some of the other guys felt the need to ask about Pryor etc..)

Clark was very cool... Talked about his new job with Indiana and how it is more of a mentor position for the young players on the team.. How the demographic of the players have changed since he was playing.... He focused a lot on asking the kids questions and prodding them to talk to him..

Overall, that was the most memorable lunch I have ever had...

My two questions were gonna be..

    1. College football landscape in 10 years (With a shameless plug of BYU going Indy)
    2. Which PG does he think is better D-Will or CP3O (With another shameless plug of Utah)..

Sadly I wasn't able to get ask them, but I was elated on all the things we talked about and just to be there...

FYI, Clark Kellogg's brother Eric was briefly a part of the BYU basketball team.

You should have asked him who was the better tOSU forward - he or Jimmy Jackson - and they when he said he was better, you just laugh.
      I'm like LeBron James.
