  • BYU Basketball 26-27: The Branch Presidency

Someone feel free to come up with a better season descriptor and edit the title of this thread.

Like with football, the 2026-2027 basketball season has new limits for seat purchases at the different Cougar Club donor levels. Arena donors get their guaranteed seats. After the arena donors comes:

    Athletic Director's Circle ($1M+ lifetime, $25K renewal): 10 tickets - unchanged from 2025
    Legacy VI: ($500K, $7K): 8 tickets - down from 10 last season
    Legacy V: ($250K, $6K): 6 tickets - down from 8 last season
    Legacy IV: ($100K, $5K) 4 tickets - down from 6 last season
    Legacy III: ($50K, $4K) 4 tickets - down from 6 last season
Legacy II: ($25K, $3K) 4 tickets - unchanged from last season
    Legacy I: ($10K, $2K) 4 tickets - unchanged from last season

The "trickle-down economics" of this should mean that there are going to be upper-bowl seats available for Golden Cougars this year.

Unfortunately for me, my overall rank in the club dropped 18 slots as bigger fish with deeper pockets move into the higher levels. It's good for the program and money talks so I don't mind it too much. I would rather BYU have a good program and me not get quite as good seats than BYU to have a sucky program but get great seats. I suppose I'm not a "true fan" anyway because I leave early to beat traffic once if I think the game is decided.

I have been Gold for a few years. I would very much like to upgrade to lower Legacy levels but it's not in the cards for now. Even as Gold last year I was able to buy four upper bowl seats. The move for us poor people for good games we want to actually be able to see is to sell the four upper bowl tickets and then buy two lower bowl seats. Was planning on that again this year but they also reduced our max allotment from 4 to 2.

All good for the program. I just need more money to be able to enjoy it.

I just went from Legacy II to Legacy III this contribution cycle. I think my contributions improved my total CC standing from last year and between that and the decrease in max purchase limits to those above me I am hopeful I will be able to get back into the lower bowl. One of my twins is planning to start at BYU in January, and she is a huge sports fan, and we will be empty nesters shortly so I expect we will make more games this year than years past. If I am not yet bougie enough to get back amongst the beautiful people in the lower bowl I think I am still young enough that I can almost tell what is going on from the upper bowl and the hike to those seats helps me to get my daily steps in!

        My suggestion for the descriptor:

I am Legacy I this year. Upper bowl I presume but hopefully back to the chair seats.

New ticket prices out. I can't link directly to the graphic, but it is on this page:

                    https://byucougars.com/mbb-seasontic...d=4753#pricing

For my upper chairs, this is a 300% increase over what it was 2-3 years ago.

Unpopular opinion: I dislike the upper-level chairs more than the benches at the MC. The upper-level rows were not constructed with sufficient space for chairs and I get a little uncomfortable and claustrophobic with my knees jammed into the seat back in front of me for the entire game. I know the alternative in benches is potentially having someone's fat back in your lap. While both are bad, I prefer the amoeba-like morphing of the crowd in benches where I have reasonable potential of finding a comfortable position to the certain discomfort of no room for my knees and feet behind the chairs.

The correct answer is obviously the lower bowl, but that is not my life at the moment.

They took out the OG small chairs and put in new chairs 2-3 years ago in the upper bowl.

that's great for width, but I don't think addresses the row pitch issue in the upper bowl. Last time I sat in upper bowl chairs with BP's mom was KY's first season I still had the issues I'm describing.

Yeah, when they remodeled the Marriott Center back in 2012? they increased the lower bowl seat pitch by 6-8 inches. Upper bowl seat pitch didn’t get any such love.

The original Marriott center had notoriously stingy seat pitch and it was rumored that Ernie Wilkinson, who was only 5’5”, personally approved it after he sat in the test seats and said they felt fine.
