Ian Johnson enters the transfer portal. I think BYU has a decent shot. He didn’t like the way Dave Rose recruited him so I wouldn’t be surprised if Mark Pope convinced him to come."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

based on his offer list and 4 star rating, yes. but honestly i'm not sure his actual play in HS ever really warranted the hype and he looked completely lost at oregon. he had no future there, hence the reason he's transferring. having said that, the guy is a legit 7' and if you're byu you don't turn that down he wants to come. tl;dr, my gut says he's not that good, but byu needs bodies - especially big ones.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post

Ian was a junior when he proposed to his cheerleader girlfriend after winning the Fiesta Bowl on the Statue of Liberty play, but I must admit I thought he extinguished his eligibility the following season.Originally posted by Moliere View PostIan Johnson enters the transfer portal. Ha, I swear that was an autocorrect but it is funny it ended up correcting to Ian Johnson. What a great fiesta bowl game!Originally posted by smokymountainrain View Post
Isaac.
The Johnsons are probably the only family I know that gives me the inside scoop on something at BYU. The parents obviously think Spencer should be playing more, but they aren’t annoying about it.
The all really disliked how Isaac was recruited to BYU. They felt like an after thought and when they did make an offer they felt like Isaac was expected to just sign and commit. Basically Dave Rose put little effort into it. They like BYU and it wouldn’t surprise me if Isaac comes to Provo if he gets an offer, but I could also see him going to Utah State, Boise State or somewhere else in the PAC Northwest. The Johnsons live in Nyssa Oregon, which is only 45 minutes from Boise and Boise has a good thing going on basketball…but their academics suck
I also have no idea if he’s any good. No one really knows. He rode the line at Oregon and frankly was dumb to sign there in the first place. He can shoot and is a skilled big man so I could see him contributing at BYU where we lack fry height. It would be good to see Johnson at center with Lohner and Fouss being able to play the 4. That was probably the plan this year I til we lost our two big men."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. Disappointed that you didn't reference their accounting program.Originally posted by Moliere View PostThe Johnsons live in Nyssa Oregon, which is only 45 minutes from Boise and Boise has a good thing going on basketball…but their academics suck

How tall do they have to be before they can be fried?Originally posted by Moliere View PostHe can shoot and is a skilled big man so I could see him contributing at BYU where we lack fry height.
