I am not advocating for this, but it would be kind of funny if he signed with Baylor in a few days.

I see he was on the Snow roster last year but I can't find any stats for him. Injury year?

I think he had a short mission and didn't have a roster spot in Provo last year. Don't know if he was injured, but I think most fans assumed he would slide onto the roster this year. Not sure if he was just saving eligibility or what at Snow.

Jaxon Kohler is committed to BYU. This is huge. I think that this roster is definitely talented enough to be a 2nd weekend or beyond caliber of team. Kohler gives BYU basically everything except an exceptional rim protector. Here is your roster:

                Robert Wright
                Nate Pickens
                Brooks Bahr
                Collin Chandler
                Dawson Baker
                Doyvdas Buika
                Bruce Branch
                Tyler Betsy
                Dean Ruekert
                Brody Kozlowski
                Jake Whalin
                Khadim Mboup
                Jakub Urbaniak
                Jaxon Kohler

That leaves one more scholarship available. Who knows where it would go and perhaps Dallin Hall may come home just to be a part of this team, but with these 14 players BYU could have an excellent team. Here is who I think will play:

                PG- Wright, Pickens
                2- Chandler- Baker
                3- Branch, Betsy
                4- Urbaniak, Wahlin
                5- Kohler, Mboup

Ruekert, Bahr, Kozlowski and Buikas don't play very much IMO. With Wright and Kohler BYU has two of best scoring players at their positions in the Big 12. Kohler is not likely to ever play in the NBA but he is an exceptional college player-all Big 12 caliber. Augment it with Chandler and Bruce Branch-who are probably better NBA prospects and thus more "talented" than Wright and Kohler and that is a great core of 4 potential go to caliber players on the roster. I like that this team will be more offensive based and probably very good on the offensive side- BYU has a couple of players who I think will be able to penetrate and score off the bounce in Wright, Chandler and Branch along with many great outside shooters -other than Mboup I think every player in the the top 10 can consistently shoot 35% or better behind the arc when open. I would personally prefer more defensive approach from KY-but I think if he stays true to himself his style is an NBA style where you "defend enough" but really win games outscoring your opponents. I think some of the BYU players can be good defensive players but this team will be similar to KY's Sweet 16 team in just scoring a lot. I hope the defense won't have the lows that club had when Alabama went off, but I think the reality is that might happen on occasion.

I really think this team has similar balance to what BYU had two years ago with more upside of great college players-the two best who are not the best NBA prospects. I really like the addition of Jaxon Kohler-Tom Izzo makes my nipples hard so having a player who played for 4 years under Izzo, and was ADORED by Tom Izzo, gives us a kid with a level of toughness and team focus that will be all with BYU in numerous unquantifiable ways. Kohler can score at an elite college level as a 5 with both his back to the basket and behind the arc. Limited in rim protection but a great rebounder. The best of Fous and Waterman in one body.

This year may fulfill what last year's hopes and dreams were. Great reasons to be very excited here folks.

Yeah, no way we can afford both Kohler and Keita

I have not heard this. He’s been practicing in a Provo, but he wants a big role. Not sure there are enough minutes to feed him.

The state of college sports is a dumpster fire.

I don't know. Everyone talks about how terrible it is, and yet my favorite school is doing pretty well. It's chaotic for sure with the transfer portal and NIL but everything the NCAA tries to do to stabilize things and put in some controls gets shot down by the courts.

Hence the dumpster on fire. Its out of control! But I agree, for once, we are in the middle of all the chaos and it is a lot of fun.
