One day later and ute fans are still acting like idiots on twitter. CC said that his decision was based on:

      1) a desire to play in the B12
      2) he likes the BYU coaching staff
      3) fan support/atmosphere at BYU

No evidence whatsoever that NIL money impacted the decision and in particular, zero evidence of Ryan Smith involvement.

But look at any thread on the topic and it will be filled with utes whining about NIL money. Haha.

you realize he was advised not to mention the illegal, under the table NIL deal, right?

It's hard to get excited about commitments for players that are going on missions right out of high school. They never seem to come back the same.

I really don't think folks are nearly as excited about Chandler as they are what Chandler's commitment indicates about Mark Pope's reputation, ability to recruit and the boost that the Big-12 is giving to BYU basketball.

                Yeah. This.

B12 invite is an absolute game-changer for basketball.

Completely agree with that. Pope is a master recruiter. I liked both Rose and Clevand as coaches, but they both seemed lazy when it came to recruiting.

Also, NIL money isn’t illegal or against any rules. It’s allowed. So if he’s getting a NIL deal, good for him. He deserves it. The Utes have plenty of rich alum that can find a NIL deal for their players. Plus, they’ve had ten years in the PAC12 while BYU was playing in high school gyms during that time. I mean, the fact our program is better has everything to do with management seeing as how Utah has had every advantage for quite a while.

it also helps to have huge fan support. I guess being a commuter school is the one area where Utah is at a disadvantage, plus their accounting program sucks.

I thought Cleveland was a strong recruiter but weak on the xs and os -- exact opposite of Roger Reid.
