  • Jimmer on the US Select Team.......

Basically its the top 20 college players in the country and is serving as a Scout team for Team USA down in Vegas. Jimmer has been guarding and been guarded by Chauncey Billups, Rajon Rondo and Derrick Rose for the last week. According to his coach down there Jay Wright he has really given some guys fits with his "Crafty and european style of play". He has been receiving high praises so far. They also mentioned how strong he is and even the bigger guards like Chauncey have a hard time knocking him off his spot.

I have read about 3 or 4 articles about it, here is one from a Las Vegas newspaper: http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2010...edette-072110/

Also I thought he was just selected for this team, but he actually had to try out.

I am really glad he is coming back. I think that his mono bout had more of an impact on his season last year than we might recognize. Especially in tournament type action where he did not have a great deal of time to recuoperate between games. I think his strength is a big part of his game and I think the mono sapped that to some extent. I think there is more that he will show next year than what he showed this past year from his illness forward.

I think he could be an All American and lead BYU to the second week of the tourney.

I was watching last night NBATV I think. Fratello, Dennis Scott and another guy broadcasting from training session. They'd cut away and show live clips from practice. I watched for a while and sure enough there was Jimmer in a scrimmage setting playing point and going against Derick Rose. Not bad practice spending a couple weeks going against Rose, Curry, Billups, and Rondo.

I hope he doesn't get kicked out of school and his life ruined for doing normal 21-year old stuff.

If he can avoid sickness or injury, I expect he will have a monster year. His game continues to develop. He was a better player mentally at the end of last year compared to the beginning of last year. I expect he will make a big jump in level playing with the National Team. My guess, Jimmer has mind boggling scoring and assist numbers next year.

I doubt that. I think it would require a change in the BYU offense.

What it would require is a huge jump in performance from Hartsock and Davies. If those two can each average double digit points and start demanding double teams, Jimmer could get many more assists than he did this past year.

Agree. Jimmer will be living in the paint. If he has bigs that can finish, it will help open his game and leave the shooters open. He's not going to have double digit assists, but that just doesn't happen in the college game. I'm still bummed about Loyd and feel like we will miss him a ton.

you forgot about HC problems. Not saying anything about his him specifically, just it's got to be always a concern for you guys. The HC is in la-la land.
