  • Utah signs Josh Jiggy Watkins

And with him and Mr. Clyburn, the demise of Utah Hoops has been greatly exaggerated. We won't win the league, but we'll be fun and thank heavens good.

I have been perusing UteZone all day for this news. Good news indeed.
"The first thing I learned upon becoming a head coach after fifteen years as an assistant was the enormous difference between making a suggestion and making a decision."

"They talk about the economy this year. Hey, my hairline is in recession, my waistline is in inflation. Altogether, I'm in a depression."

"I like to bike. I could beat Lance Armstrong, only because he couldn't pass me if he was behind me."

Give us little back ground on the kid Crimy. Why should I be excited about this? Sorry, I don't follow basketball recruiting as close as I do football recruiting.

Point Guard of the JC Champion Howard College out of Texas. (might have been tournament MVP as well, but I can't recall)

So does this mean Tavita might not play?

Marquis Carter who signed with Gonzaga was the MVP. Watkins averaged 15 pts 5 assists and 4 boards a game. He's the leader the Utes have been looking for and will allow the Utes to bring Preston Guiot along slowly.

In the words of Joe Biden, this is a BFD.

aka Kevin Woodbury v. 2.0. Things are looking up!
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

After watching Tavita man the point, our HJH backup point guard would be an upgrade.

So what does this mean for Hines? Does Hines see time at the 2 guard or his is he the spark off the bench?

This means that BYU's epoch of dominance over the Utes was short lived.

So looking at his numbers, he gets to the foul line a lot. Must be pretty quick, he also looks pretty stout for a kid only 5'10 (One site has him listed at 6 feet). He does not shoot a great percentage from three (30% only 16 made fieldgoals) but he seems solid and a nice get or the utes.

Who were his other offers? Looks like in HS he was offered by Oklahoma did they offer again out of JC?

Cincinatti. He was there last weekend and they offered him.

Crowder had 27 points and 12 rebounds in the win as was named to the all-tournament team. Watkins, who sparked the comeback in both the title game and the semifinal win over CEU, was named the tournament MVP. He tallied 26 points and seven rebounds in the title game and averaged 19.8 points over the tourney.

Yes. This gives me a bit of faith in Boylen's ability to recruit. He really went after a couple of guys hard and, while I don't know the priority order (did Boylen want Rogers or Watkins more?), he certainly did land a lot of the guys he went after.
