Poeple sympathetic to the basketball program were sending PM's on Utefans yesterday with Boylen's side of th story. It wasn't really inside information, more an orchestration.

When I was at the U I got to know a couple of people close to the athletic department and I've kept up the relationship. Despite Seattle's whining, I got a phone call not a PM on UTEFANS.

Marshall had a very difficult time behaving on campus and wanted to party hearty all the time. Amazingly, in his statement he pretty much admitted that. Good luck finding another decent program that wants to take a chance on you, Marshall. What a shame.

Has Chris Hill said anything about the hoops program this week, will he be forced to address the issue next week? Maybe even give the dreaded vote of confidence?

Hill has no choice but to give Boylen a vote of confidence if he has to fire another basketball coach it reflects very poorly on him.

"I want to be closer to home," he said. "Coach Boylen's program also has certain rules and restrictions that I respect, but I don't feel they fit with my individualism. This is not about the coaches, the system or the players."

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

One thing that makes me chuckle is that the good Dr is never to blame for any issues in Ute athletics. He didn't make a bad hire wrt to Giac, Giac had a mental breakdown. Now that Boylen's train is running off the rails like it is crazy, the latest was a rumor that Majerus is the real cause of the issues because he told Boylen not to take the job because Ute fans are dickheads. Whenever there are issues on the Hill, there is always a rumor of breakdowns or how some former coach from 6 years ago is the cause.

It appears to me that the issues at Utah are deep and complex. I think they run the range from the Good Doctor not handling Majerus well, making some poor hires (remember when the Good Doctor announced to mankind that Utah doesn't hire good coaches, Utah makes good coaches - some might call that arrogance) and flat out a huge dose of bad luck. Utah can recover but I am with Crimson that they should approach it as if Boylen was just hired and let him try to rebuild the mess. Boylen's tenure might have more bad luck than Gary Crowton's. If either Boylen isn't good enough or if the bad luck continues they can throw his ass off the boat like Jonah's in two more years.

That may have been the case in the past, but I think that a lot of people are starting to look at the good Dr., particularly if they end up having to reach into their pockets to buyout Boylen and pay a new coach.

It is quotes like Henderson's that make me want to see Boylen succeed.

                        • Boylen just threw Henderson and Brown under the bus on the radio. He would not get in to specifics but he essentially said neither one of them wanted to play team basketball and abide by team rules. He pointed to Henderson specifically and in a round about way said it was more his decision to let them go then it was their decision. I am thinking it was a "hey coach I am thinking about leaving" and Boylen says "Good do not let the door hit you on the ass on the way out"

You are a dickhead, but I don't think you are one of the dickheads that Rick Majerus doesn't like.

                            Sorry, just being honest!

Almost anyone that I know that is close to the program thinks that Carlon should have been kicked off the team a year ago. I think Boylen gave him a long leash and had a hope that Carlon would turn it around in attitude, but it obviously never happened.
