If you want to play the point spread game, Utah beat no. 3 ranked Arizona (defending NC) by 25, and no. 1 ranked North Carolina by 6. Butler didn't come close to anything like that. Every game Butler won it eked by, and not against competition like Utah trounced.
Hey, whatever floats your boat. Butler had a realistic shot to be modern era NCCA champs with less than 5 seconds to go, and then a Hail Mary's chance as well.
Again, Butler.
I bet they even have a more impressive parade.
Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
13 seconds to go and only down by 1 with the ball, I'm calling it.
Butler much more impressive that Utah. There is no debate.
Hey, I guess if the declaration has been made, that's it, guys.
Between this and global warming, all my good debate topics are gone.

Average seed of Utah's opponents: 14, 6, 10, 1, 1, 2=5.66
Average seed of Butler's opponents: 12, 13, 1, 2, 5, 1=5.66
Miles traveled to Final Four site:
Utah=1,356 (San Antonio)
Butler=7 (Indianapolis)
I mean, this is all for naught because the debate is over, but what the hell.

Butler showed up when it counted, which was the second half of the National Championship game. They kept it close and were even ahead with only a couple minutes left in the game. If Butler would have only hit one of those 10 point blank shots they missed this could have been an entirely different game, but even then they had a chance to win it.
Their competition was just as good as what Utah faced. Butler beat a #1 and #2 seed and almost took out another #1 seed.
As has been stated before, Butler was more impressive.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Utah beat two #1 seeds (handily) and almost beat a #2. Butler also got to play two games as the host team, de facto home games.
De facto home game my foot! They were playing in an arena that just as unfamiliar to them as it was to Duke.
Butler would have had similar fan support anywhere in the country given their underdog status. Most of those tickets were sold way in advance of anyone knowing who would be in that game. The crowd make up would not have been different if the game were held in LA or Miami.
I stand behind my argument that they played just as good of teams as Utah in that they also played two #1 seeds and a #2 seed.
