Tubby Smith's name is heating up here. The only mention of Dave Rose is by ESPN Insider. I haven't seen his name in either the Eugene paper or the Oregonian, none of the Duck bloggers are saying anything about Rose.

I think Tubby Smith would be a great hire as long as he doesn't have any more children who play PG. Amazing the success they had despite Saul's suckiness.

Tubby Smith would be an amazing hire for the Ducks. He is one of the more underrated coaches in college hoops.

You are right Mr. C, Oregon looking much higher on the ladder than Few or Bennett. Sorry. Just being honest.

How on earth would the Oregon coaching job hurt my feelings. Phil Knight has more money than God so it makes y'all believe you can go out and buy a coach, and who knows, maybe you can.

My only interest in this was Mark Few not going and it was clear that wasn't happening when Leon Rice took the Boise St. job.

My only thoughts are this now, y'all are being a bit delusional about your place in the universe and money doesn't buy all things. And if this shakes out as I suspect it will, I pity the poor bastard who finally takes this job as it won't be the name you all want and unless he wins in a real damn hurry the fans are going to destroy him. Maybe I'm wrong.

But I have no real axe to grind with Oregon and after having lived in PAC-10 country for a while now both So Cal and the Northwest, I am nominally a Duck fan and find them far less offensive than the extra douchy Husky fans and drunken white trash Coug fans.

So sincerely best of luck with this.

I was just using a common board joke, after taking a slight swipe at Few.

I don't think Oregon will get Izzo, but I do think they are going to get someone from the A list.

If you call Tubby A list, I think you can get him, I think Oregon and Tubby would be a nice fit. I would caution against hiring a name for names sake.

I also think PJ Carlisimo would be a disaster and hope you're looking another way.

But I also believe Randy Bennett, while not your A list guy just might be the right guy. Honestly when we were searching for names for Boylen's response, I had his name out there as well.

But like I said, outside of liking Few at Gonzaga, I'd kind of like the Ducks, so we're not rooting against each other here.

Everyone is turning down Oregon. lol Even with Knight offering his big filthy pile of lucre.

The local sports radio is worred that Oregon will lure Steve Alford away. I find this amusing since no report I have heard or read has even mentioned Alford.

With Pitt extending Jaime Dixon today, people here are starting to worry that Oregon is going to have to settle for Alford. Most are hoping his name doesn't start popping up. He is like a less successful, whiter Ernie Kent.

Where do y'all have left to turn. Is Tubby still on the table. What about Lon Krueger?

I think I am moving into the official pity the poor bastard who gets the job mode.

Andy Katz tweeted this last night:
Oregon may look toward Butler's Brad Stevens, BYU's Dave Rose and UNLV's Lon Kruger.
                              "may look"?

One thing that is driving local media nuts is that Oregon is being very secretive in their search. Have they swung and missed on 4-5 guys already or have they yet to make an offer? They have not asked for official permission to talk to anyone I don't believe. So it isn't as easy to report on as other coaching searches.

I think Oregon will have a coach by the end of the weekend, if that is someone great, or someone that causes fans to scratch their heads is the only question.
