  • Chris Miles

There is something wrong with him. I mean mentally.

I've played enough and coached enough ball to read a players body language to tell when something is going on with him.

Mentally he appears as if he's on another planet when he's out on the court, and it's becoming more clear with every game that he just seems like he'd wish he were any other place, than actually in the game.

Whatever his issues are I hope he gets them figured out, because he has too much ability to keep on wasting space out there.

That dunk was impressive. But I agree, he's what Phil Jackson would call a space cadet.

The guy has awful hands, he has 3 inches and 20 pounds on everyone he is playing against, he should be dominating. Look what Mcgregor who has 1/2 the talent of Miles did tonight.

McGregor was awesome tonight. Probably the lone bright spot.

I've been surprised with Miles complete lack of progress on the basketball court.

It might not seem like much, but it is significant. He's improved each year. His post moves this year are dramatically better than last year.

              Bump.

I was impressed with Miles last night. He was overmatched but he put up much more offense than I ever would have imagined against Neville. I didn't think his D was atrocious either. Neville hit several shots where Miles couldn't have D'd him up any better Neville was just "on". Yeah, he got torched a few times but overall if you'd have told me he'd play like he did last night I'd have bet we would have won that game. Any chance he improves his free throws in the next couple of years?

Miles free throw stroke is very good. He has nice form and should be a much better free throw shooter. Its all confidence for him right now. Plaisted had an awful stroke and you knew why he sucked shooting foul shots.

Miles even got 6 rebounds last night - that's like Blake Griffin getting 30 rebounds. I'm very impressed.
                  I'm like LeBron James.

His form is NOT good. I'll agree his stroke is good, which is why he isn't a half-bad 10-15 foot jump shooter, but he literally starts walking away from the line as he shoots. Once in a while, he stays in there and his percentage jumps up dramatically. I think this would be an easy coaching issue to fix.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

My issue with Chris Miles all year has been his effort level and mental part of the game.

So often he seemed dis-interested and didn't play hard.

Last night he didn't have that issue. He played with intensity and a lot of effort. No if he can play with that kind of effort consistently BYU then he can improve.

He has to play like he cares.

I think that is confidence, he is fading away when he shoots it almost like he knows its a miss. I agree it can be fixed with coaching.

This is the same Chris Miles I watched as a high school player. Get used to it.

I haven't seen a lot of games this year, but I thought Miles did a decent job. Particularly defensively, even if Neville dropped 32. The only example I can think of where he really dropped was a drop-step by Neville that gave him a layup. No 7+ footer not named Shaq should be able to get around like that.

Overall, Miles did a good job of keeping a much bigger guy out of the paint or forcing Utah into some stupid passes. Neville was making some ridiculous shots. So was Kepkay.

Still...no excuses for the freethrows. One more make (3 of 9!) and we win it.
