  • Coaches vs. Cancer teams announced:

    Pitt
    Maryland
    Texas
    Illinois
    Rhode Island
    College of Charleston
    Illinois-Chicago
    Louisiana Tech
    Navy
    Seattle
    Toledo
    UC Irvine

Of course, it would make too much sense to involve a coach who has spit in the face of cancer and spends his offseasons raising cancer research funding and awareness. So Dave Rose and BYU are not part of the field.

That's both surprising and disappointing. Could BYU still be ticketed for the Jimmy V Classic at MSG?

Bummer. That would have been a great way to start the season with an experienced group back.

        That sucks.

Per Drew, we're slated to play in some tournament on South Padre Island.

Does that prevent us from participating in the Jimmy V Classic?

I'm not sure at all about this but I remember seeing the original post about the South Padre Island tournament, and I believe the source info might have been misinterpreted.

The Padre Island info came through from South Florida news outlet.

I could be totally off, but as I recall there was a mention about BYU in connection with another team and it was ambiguous as to whether BYU was in the tournament or whether BYU had a single game scheduled with said team.

I don't know except that in that same Drew post he says that teams may only play in one preseason tournament per year.

The Jimmy V Classic is comprised of two games and four teams. There is no tournament because you only play one game.

That really makes no sense at all. Rose would have been a great poster child for the event. One hopes they'll get a Jimmy V Classic invite, if that's possible. Today, btw, is Jimmy V Day.

That is a great signature for Jimmy V Day, by the way.

These things are often set a few years in advance. I know the Zags are aware of these things a few years in advance and Majerus always was with the Utes as well.
