  • Pat Forde on the Huntsman Center

Forde Minutes: Cribs edition - ESPN

Huntsman Center (35). Who plays there: Utah. Opened: 1969. Capacity: 15,000. Why the NCAA insists on returning the tournament to this aging and pedestrian place on a regular basis is beyond The Minutes.

Utah should renovate the Einer Nielson Fieldhouse and go back there. A retro state of the art fieldhouse would be really cool.

Apart from that, I am implacably opposed to any new basketball facility at the U of U. What a collosal waste of money that would be. Our society is realy sick. I think spectator sport is the new opiate of the masses.

I always thought it looked like a big metallic boob. With the obscenity laws in Utah, I'm surprised someone at the legislature hasn't made the University put a pasty on it.

I don't do the whole grading thing but, if I did, Coach would get an A++ from me for this one.

Marriott Center (19). Who plays there: Brigham Young. Opened: 1971. Capacity: 22,700. Ambitiously built, sporadically filled. The Cougars haven't averaged even 18,000 fans per game since 1995, and even in this spectacular season attendance is at 14,000 per game.

Comments on the MC in the same article.

                  Yep. Good observation by Forde.

The MC is a hideous place. I can't believe the hubris that led them to build a barn like that. 22,000 seats. lol

Average attendance for those is 22,700. Should the MC be expanded?
