Terry Nashif fills in for Coach Rose on the weekly Coach Rose show.

Pretty hilarious. He sounds like he's 15 years old. He mentions he's going on the road recruiting this week. I wonder if recruits take a coach seriously that looks and talks like he should be in junior high.

I really have no idea how good of a coach Nashif is, however my perception is there is a wide gap between assistant coach Nashif and assistant coach Rice.

And who in his prime would have struggled to score 15 points in a junior high game.

I really am not a Nashif hater, I just wanted to make fun of his voice. I don't know enough about him to judge whether or not he's a good coach. He's not dripping with competency and infusing confidence with every step, but I trust Rose a lot to make good hires.

How about when he goes out to talk to a 7 footer and says, "Hey, do you realize that if you come to BYU, I will be your position coach?"

You say "we've had more 5 men get drafted from BYU over the last 10 years than any other position".

And then you all break out laughing when you realize you are only talking about Trent Plaisted and Araujo and that BYU doesn't run an offense that involves the post players.

I'm not a Nashif hater either. He's a nice guy. I just wish they hadn't hired him over Fred Roberts, who wanted the job. But you've gotta be loyal to your grad assistants, I guess.

If that's really the case, then maybe you should break out crying because that's the best we've had to offer over the last 10 years and that our other four positions have been a complete waste of humanity.

It does when it has competent post scorers. I'll bet that the offense includes Brandon Davies quite a bit over the next 3 years - especially his junior and senior years.

He has been to Hartnell JC 3 or 4 times since the summer. Looking at 3 players, Blake Francom, DJ Harrison and Colton Burgon.

Burgon is a 6'8 post player who is a freshman that is eligible to transfer after this season he is averaging 15 and 9 while shooting almost 60% from the floor.

Harrison is the older brother of Demarcus Harrison who is a BYU recruit, he is not playing a ton right now and probably needs at least another year in JC ball to see if he is worthy to play D-1.

Francom is a 6'6 sophomore who is averaging 16, 6 rebs, and 5 assists, he is a wing player that shoots the three well.

It's just a bad way to make your case. You don't brag that you had only 2 dudes drafted over the last 10 years, one of whom didn't make a team. There are lots of ways to sell your university and your team, even to big guys.

It didn't with Plaisted. And yes, I realize that he scored 15 ppg.
But I too have high hopes for Davies. He'll have better post moves than Plaisted.

We could use a JC post. I'm still not completely convinced Davies is going to be ready to be the guy next year. I don't imagine anyone else starting, but I think he'll struggle enough and/or get in foul trouble enough that we'll want a solid backup. Hartsock or Collinsworth are not real great options at the 5.
