  • BYU vs. Utah poops.....

I think that when the BYU program is on top of Utah's it's not good for the MWC or the west. It's a bad sign. It means the conferene is going through some weak, tough times, and there's going to be a dry spell in the NCAA's.
When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

You know much of what Seattle does is a fishing trip, but there is some merit here. BYU in football and basketball is a program is a program with a ceiling, where Utah clearly and others depending on the sport, don't have this ceiling. If BYU is clearly the best team in the conference, it means the conference isn't at its best.

I think it goes even deeper than that. It's only a good year if BYU loses.
          Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Not true, I enjoy playing good Cougar teams. Its just when you're clear and away the best, its also clear this league just isn't great.

Of course. I can't think of a single argument against this point. Thank you.

What impact do you think BYU's missionary position has on the MWC race? Personally, I feel a lot more comfortable with the Cougars on top. And I think the other teams in the conference would be a little nervous anyway in a scenario where they had the target on their backs and BYU was playing from behind. I also think you would agree that it would be good for the MWC if BYU made a deep run this year.

All Utah can do right now is lay back and enjoy it.

I wonder if that isn't why Boylen seemed to earn so little goodwill last year. Utah won a share of the conference regular season title -- but so did BYU.
