  • Digger Just Slammed BYU's #10 Ranking

At halftime of Syracuse and Georgetown game. Said they're overrated. Haven't played anybody. Their SOS is 150. And that there are at least 6 teams ranked below them that would beat them.

He's probably right. But it's funny he's still smarting over Ainge's drive.

Did he say "beat" them or "kill" them?

I agree that he's probably right, but how can you not be amused at Digger's consistent loathing of BYU even after nearly 30 years?

Also, as I said yesterday, why are people talking about BYU's SOS (it's better than 150, BTW) when they're willing to vote Kentucky #1 with an 84th-ranked SOS? If Kentucky is the best team in the country, BYU is at least top 10, if not top 5.

One can hardly blame him. Nearly 30 years after that glorious moment they still show that highlight on national TV, something that can be said for very few sports highlights. Digger gets to watch the dagger every year, and often multiple times.

The first BYU basketball game in the Marriott Center memory I have is BYU beating Notre Dame in OT, despite David Rivers shooting 350 free throws that each took 20 seconds for him to shoot.

Was it just me or did Kelly Tripuka seem like he had 12 years of eligibility at Notre Dame.

In any event, the lesson as always, Digger Phelps is an idiot.

No, it just seemed that way. I blame it on his teeth.

I am pretty sure that this was the game where during a time out, Digger screamed to his team:

"You guys are getting beat by a bunch of &#%*ing Mormons!"
"There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Considering how many children Mormons tend to have, I believe that is an accurate description.

I was at that game. I still remember the ND center, he was a big red headed (maybe dark blond) kid and all he could do was foul. That was a memorable moment in BYU history for me too, not the first, but memorable nonetheless.

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

I can't say that Digger is an idiot, just idiotic in his hatred for BYU. I really appreciate his love and promotion for the arts and humanities.

Just tell me one thing before I can judge him fairly--what is Digger's stance on the scientific method?

Was it Tim Kempton? I think he somehow got an NBA check for a short while.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, can match a highlighter to their tie like Digger. Set, match, game.
