Wow. That's insane. I read about that in the paper this morning, but after seeing it on video I can see why the crowd went crazy. That is horrible officiating. Here is a story about the controversy:

"I was kneeling down out of bounds and the ball hit the line and I caught it," Boylen explained afterward. "That's what they called."
      Liar.

That is what I understood by watching that clip. Kind of interesting that Utah retained possession.

Why is Boylen the only coach involved in goofy stuff like this? Part of me's just chuckling at how this is just par for the course for him, while the other half's just sort of amazed that we're actually starting to expect this stuff.

He's like a Bobby Knight, without the winning.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Man that's embarrassing. Embarrassing to the league and Utah.

Maybe Boylen figures with the football team finishing "Number 2" in the country, that he has some good will to squander.

Hey, if the team won't play any defense, he might as well.

                I hate conference play.

If you say he's lying about being out of bounds, then you're correct.

And saying that the ball hit the line. That would also not be true. Even if he thought he was out of bounds, why does he reach for the ball? It had not landed out of bounds and no whistle had been blown. He had to know he was making a play on a live ball. Really, no excuse and to make these statements just makes him look worse in my opinion. If he would just man up and say he screwed up and apologize, it would be a non-issue. It had no impact on the game. But because he comes back with lame excuses and non-truths, he comes off as a moron or an out of control figure on the sidelines.

It is odd that Boylen has the reflexes to grab loose balls, etc, when he clearly has not imparted that same skill to his teams.

Come on, Boylen! When are you going to start sharing some of the secret sauce?

I'm not excusing what he did. And I agree that he should have just said that he wrong to have caught the ball.

I just think it's amusing seeing Boylen get under the skin of so many BYU fans when there really is no reason for it to happen. He hasn't even won a game against the Y yet.

Not under my skin. I just think he makes the conference in general and Utah in paticular look bad with his actions and then comments.

It is there way of getting back at Utah fans for the way Bronco gets under their skin.

                              Hmmm...

Bronco has won two conference titles. That seems to be a bit more valid reason for Ute fans to not like him.
