BYU is due for a slip-up right? In this morning's RPI rankings, NM is #19 and BYU #20:
BYU vs. NM at the Pit

I don't know of it's a matter of being "due", but UNM is a very good team and the Pit is a very difficult place to win. BYU could play well and still lose.

I agree. BYU has struggled at SDSU in recent years a lot more than they've struggled at the Pit. Last year was the exception in the Rose era. I don't think BYU at this point is mystified by the aura of the Pit. They may lose, but it would be because New Mexico is much better than they've been, not because Snake and his ilk are in Jimmer's head.Originally posted by kccougar View PostBYU is playing with confidence and Rose is 3-1 at the Pit. I think the Cougars win.

BYU will lose in The Pit because they're looking ahead to THE SUGAR BOWL-WINNING UTAH RUNNIN' UTES.

Let's not forget that two of those wins were over deplorable UNM teams coached by Ritchie Mckay. Similar to Boise State's 2-0 record versus BYU football. The one win Rose has over Alford from 2008 was a great road win for BYU.Originally posted by scottie View PostThat's impressive.
UNM is better than they were in 2008, but so is BYU. It will be a great game.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

What was the record of the great mid to late 90's Utah teams in conference? Did any of them run the table in conference? That seems like a pretty tall expectation even for a great team. I wouldn't bet against us on Wednesday, but I don't expect to get through the conference with less than two losses.

IIRC, there was only one time the Utes ran the conference in the Majerus days, and it wasn't the Final Four team. I can't remember which year it was tho.Originally posted by jay santos View PostWhat was the record of the great mid to late 90's Utah teams in conference? I said if BYU split these two road games I would take it. I hope we win but I am not expecting it.*Banned*

A quick check of cougarstats.com shows that TCU went undefeated in the Pacific division in 96-97 and 97-98, and Utah did too in 98-99. Utah went 13-1 in 04-05.Originally posted by jay santos View PostWhat was the record of the great mid to late 90's Utah teams in conference? Did any of them run the table in conference? All the smart money is on UNM. But this BYU team is spooky. I'm not putting any $ on this one. There's something very strange gooing on.Originally posted by scottie View PostBYU is due for a slip-up right? In this morning's RPI rankings, NM is #19 and BYU #20:

In Miller's last year, 98-99, Utah ran the table through the regular season and the tournament. That was a better team than the Final Four team. It got a 2 seed and could have won the NC but Miller took a nasty fall the last game of the regular season (I think vs. Wyo) and he wasn't the same since. I think he was thinking about being a lottery pick in the NCAA tournament.Originally posted by SCcoug View PostA quick check of cougarstats.com shows that TCU went undefeated in the Pacific division in 96-97 and 97-98, and Utah did too in 98-99.
