  • Resetting expectations

Last night was an awful loss. 19 points in the second half until garbage points in the last minute. The team just didn't look that good at all last night. USU completely neutralized our fast break offense by getting back so well and not allowing TO's (and at the same time outrebounded us!!). JT sucks and I wish he would die. When the team gets stuck in half court offense, we can look really bad at times if all we do is let Jimmer dribble around while everyone stands still.

The pieces are there, but the team had some weaknesses exposed last night. I was thinking this team could be a step better than last year's, now I'm thinking maybe a step below.

Yeah, that was a disappointing reality check. Same old same old. Good team, but certainly not great.

I only caught intermittent glimpses of the game while I was working, but I get the feeling that JT is sinking this ship. I liked what I saw from Miles, he had some strong moves down low, and what I saw of Haws I liked too. If I were Rose, I would post a punishment for every fade away j in the game. It's a low percentage shot, and I don't think the other players on the team are as committed to it as JT, so it would make them go away from it and give Rose a reason to pull JT.

It was 1 loss on the road against a team that has won 36 straight at home. We are fine.

Yeah we're fine. Fine is the code word for shitty. Try it out, sometime. "Honey, I think I screwed up my hair, does it look alright?" "No, it looks fine."

Seriously, it's not time for slitting wrists but they didn't play anywhere close to the level of a team that's on the path to win a game or two in the NCAA tourney.

USU's defense last night was on par with an NCAA tourney team, and BYU never found any offensive rhythm. They settled for bad shots. Without some adjustments to attack a team who is going to limit BYU's transition offense, BYU will be good as usual but won't win in the tourney.

Yeah I lost most of the excitement for this team that I had. I'm not a huge basketball fan anyway but was very interested to see how good this team is. What I saw was a mess. JT needs to be disciplined or benched. There is a lot of talent, but an overall lack of discipline and fundamentals that isn't promising.

Define fine. You haven't won an NCAA playoff game in 20 years.

While I think you'll do well in conference, especially since it is down a bit this year, USU at home is a good measuring stick for NCAA tournament play.

And I will fold over and kiss my own ass if Utah gets into the NCAA any other way than winning 3 games in Vegas

UNLV is ranked and just beat Arizona on the road.

New Mexico just beat a ranked Cal team on the road.

                        Define down year for me.

(Just because Utah is bad like they have been 4 out of the past 5 years does not mean the whole conference is down)

Fine meaning we are 5-1 with a 9pt road loss to a team that has won 36 straight at home that is predicted to win their conference and one of only 3 teams (Georgetown is not one of them) to win at least 23 games in 10 straight years.

We could be 3-3 with losses at home to Idaho, Seattle and on the road to Weber State.

Nice try, but I already had low expectations for this year. If Utah is this bad next year, then I'll be concerned.
