  • Brigham Young at Utah State thread

I've been looking forward to this game for a while now. The reason is those Aggies care so darn much about basketball, especially when it comes to playing Utah or BYU (BYU especially). A zoob's preoccupation with "the yewts" or a zoot's loathing of "TDS" pales in comparison to the strident Aggie's passion for getting to The Spectrum three hours early in their "Screw the U/Y" shirt.

I was in attendance the last time BYU made the two-hour trip north to Logan, as well as last year when they played in the Delta Center ESA (awesome atmosphere, BTW, and great game), and I'm anticipating another good game.

From what I saw of USU in the Huntsman, BYU should win, but they were without one of their best defenders, and they're unquestionably a better team at home.

I will be interesting to see how BYU plays if Emery is indeed not able to play. Part of me wants Emery to sit to make sure he gets completly healed and not to aggrivate his foot more.

Plus if BYU were to win in that situation, it would really be fun to rub it in the aggies noses that they did so without the full team.

wait wait. who's missing for the game for USU? Or were they missing for the game against Utah but they're back tonight? I'm so confused.

I think the win will be very difficult for BYU to pull off, and the crowd will be extremely hostile. Heard Jimmer cant get enough tickets for his fam visiting from back east. If Emory doesnt play, and the team does lousy without him, it may just increase my respect for him, which is sort of low right now. I think he is a decent player against mediocre teams that BYU faces all season. I just don't think he is athletic enough to help the team where it really counts: in the NCAA tournament. The only thing I've ever wanted from the team is a round 1 victory.

I'm a BYU fan first and a USU fan a distant second. My dream is to one day attend one of these games in the Spectrum and cheer on BYU just to experience the "hostile" crowd. USU fans live for basketball and I don't blame them since they have been very good over the past couple years.

If I do ever attend a game there, I will bring a sign that reads "1-25 Thank You USU". I'd assume none of the current USU students would understand but I will always be thankful to USU for that one win they gave us in that year of infamy in BYU basketball history.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I never got to see that game; I was having dinner with President Hinckley at the time.

Emery sure showed up against Weber State. I'd be curious to see how Abuou/Haws do without him. This game does scare me. I wish Tai Wesley was in BYU blue

ESPN360.com is carrying the game. My ISP works with ESPN360, so I'll surprisingly be able to see the game.

We beat them without our best player. It will be interesting to see how BYU does.

Which local station? I don't see anything listed on the Comcast schedule.

For a team that has lost some stinkers this year, you're right, that was a very nice home win.
