Any word on the severity, and his likely return?

What does "hurt his foot" mean? Ankle sprain? Something worse?
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Sounds like someone stepped on it and it swelled up. He has not had xrays yet and after it was stepped on he tried to continue playing and was unable too. Xrays tomorrow. So as of now the severity is unknown.

Here's what Jay Drew had to say about it:
The Cougar basketball team practiced in the Richards Building this afternoon because the Marriott Center is hosting Christmas Around the World again.
But coach Dave Rose wasn’t all that merry after the long workout, because it appears starting guard Jackson Emery could be unavailable for the Utah State game on Wednesday.
Emery left practice early after injuring his right foot.
Rose said he left to have the foot iced, and that x-rays would be taken when the swelling had subsided, probably later tonight.
Rose said the injury was on the “top” of Emery’s foot, and that he tried to play on it after being bumped and landing off balance, but couldn’t go.
“I’m nervous about a lot of things,” Rose said when asked if he was concerned that Emery might not be able to play on Wednesday.
Tipoff against the Aggies is at 7 p.m. at the Spectrum in Logan.
The Cougars (5-0) were among the teams receiving votes in the college basketball polls released Monday. If Emery can’t play, it will be a big loss for the Cougars becaue the guard is regarded as BYU’s top defenders.
Offensively, he’s averaging 13 points a game and is shooting 15-for-27 from three-point range.

              Update from Jay Drew:

Emery (sprained foot) will be a "game-time decision"

Just got word from BYU that guard Jackson Emery’s injury has been diagnosed by trainer Rob Ramos as a “mild foot sprain” and that the junior will be a “game-time decision” for Wednesday night’s game at Utah State.

I hope so. He is a tough guy, so I have no doubt he will try and play. He better make sure there isn't a break though. It is so easy to break one of the small bones in the foot and they can take a long time to heal.

Despite being diagnosed as a sprain, I am nervous. I have had lots of foot injuries over the years from ankle sprains to broken bones and a sprain on the top of my foot is not listed as one of them.

I have a feeling that JT did it to him. He was probably bothered that Emery is getting some pub. I don't know, I may be wrong...but I doubt it.

I've had a foot sprain that I treated with ibuprofen and ice. Totally playable injury.

I rubbed dirt on mine and lifted a car off of a baby.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say. Telling my own experience with the injury somehow makes me a braggart I guess.
