[QUOTE=Goatnapper'96;204584] If Miles can provide 10 ppg and 7.5 rpg, I think this team will finish in the top 25 and get a seed of 7 or 6 in the dance. QUOTE]

There is no way that Miles will provide that. Maybe he and Andersen together might get 12 and 8. Maybe.

Miles was 7 and 4 last year. Anderson 2.5 and 1.5. I can see Miles pushing 10 points a game but for some reason he doesn't bring down the rebounding numbers like you think he would for a big man with his length and ability.

          A few things
          1. I appreciate you agreeing with my expert metrosexy opinion on Davies.
          2. Not much else to say.
          3. UteStar is awesome.

1- He only agreed with you just to make fun.
2- Because you can't think of anything clever.
            3- UteStar is awesome...NOT!

As for BYU hoops, I don't know anything. The names Emory and Jimmer sound familiar. JT hasn't graduated yet. He was always fun to watch.

I have looked at the schedule and we have a decent pre-season with a few good games. The Arizona schools will be fun to play. Fresno and Nebraska or Tulsa have potential to be decent games. Why in the world are we playing San Francisco at the ESA? We play three WAC teams. I'm sure Karl Benson has them marked on his calendar.

A couple of months ago I ran into the U of Dayton AD at a social event and encouraged him to look into scheduling a BYU series. I see that I may need to apply a bit more pressure.

Miles has small hands and relatively short arms. His hand size and arm length really hurt him in rebounding outside his area. It's too bad because he is very strong and boxes out well. If he could learn to hit and go he would be a better rebounder but hit it and quit it isn't taught at the Y.

I think Miles goes for a few more ppg this year than last year and will hit the double digit average in ppg. He probably won't get more than a 6 rpg average. He will box out his man and hold him to lower than his rpg but the 4 will get boards for us like crazy as will the 3 ... just like last year.

I'm most excited about Hartsock. My guess is that Rose will base JTs minutes at 3 vs 4 based on whether Hartsock or Abuou is more ready to contribute. Preseason has said Abuou but I have also heard rumors that Hartsock is doing great things for this team.

Miles may not have been a rebounding machine, but BYU was 3rd in the nation in offensive rebounding "defense", so Miles and the rest of BYU was doing a good job sealing off their man on missed shots. In fact, they've finished 3rd each of the last two years.

Miles boxes out his own man and often accounts for a "loose" player at the same time. He is a very disciplined rebounder but he needs to learn to go outside his area to get the ball. Even doing that, his hands and arms don't lend themselves to making him a great rebounder. The other reason we are good in offensive rebounding defense is that we push the ball up the floor. Great way to get dudes off the offensive glass is to run out on the boards ou do get. Easy layups will send dudes back on D rather than to the offensive glass.

I of course am referring to "small" as relative to the rest of his size. I'm sure his wife is glad for his short hands and arms.
