  • Collinsworth on campus

It looks like Kyle Collinsworth is on campus this weekend for a visit with BYU coaches.

For those that have seen him play, does he seem like the real deal? I haven't seen a ton of high school basketball in Utah so I don't know the talent level here. From the numbers of schools that were interested in it seems like he would be a pretty good get.

I will be shocked if Collinsworth ends up anywhere other than BYU. He certainly looks like a nice get for BYU.

I think he's pretty legit. He allegedly played evenly with Tyler Haws and the kid from PG going to Washington as a junior. I saw him in person once. He's 6'5ish with a good handle and athletic, fluid body. I wasn't that impressed with his shot, but he's got a couple years to master it from when I saw him to when he'll play in college.

I was more impressed with Davies. He looked a lot more polished than I thought he would be, moved around well, and knocked down a couple mid range J's.

I read in the blog that USC wanted him to play point? Did he ever play point in high school. I thought he was more of a wing/small forward player. Seems pretty versatile if they were thinking about that.

I agree. He could go elsewhere but all history and logic has this kid as a Cougar.

My real recruiting interest right now is who else is Rose recruiting for next year, even if he gives BrockieZeedawgydawg a scholie there is still at least one other opening for next year after Collinsworth the older and Martineu come home from their full 2 year missions!

He has played a lot of PG in HS, but I think he plays on the wing in the summer league/AAU teams.

You've seen his brother play. He's a slightly shorter, quicker, more coordinated version of his brother. He's used to having the ball in his hands on offense and can drive and dish, but I think there's no possible way he plays point for BYU, USC, or any D1 college team. He's just not a point guard. He couldn't get down and defend quick point guards and he'd cough up the ball if he was really pressured.

Similar to Chris he was a later bloomer and grew up playing Point. Chris went from 6'1 to 6'9 from his freshman to junior years of highschool. Kyle went from 5'10 to 6'5. So they are both used to handling the ball.

I thought I read the opposite.

Indy, what info did you have on Collinsworth (re: your CB post)? Post it here.

Also, did you guys see Brandon Davies on TV when they did a shot of the fans? I wondered if it was Collinsworth standing next to him. I know they're buds. But I think it probably was Haws. Whoever it was, they were wearing BYU shirt and looking fully invested.

More importantly, does he know Jake Heaps?

We didn't want him; he couldn't handle our rigorous academic standards; and he's too soft to play for Boylen.
