I though the thread title was "Don't mess with DDD and WoW geeks." That would have been funny, in reference to the Green Tea thread.

Baltimore has some really bad part of town. In fact, if you ever go up to a Ravens or Orioles game, in order to get to the satellite lots they direct you through a neighborhood that is basically row houses that must be condemned. The doors are all standing open and you can look inside and see that they are full of trash but people have dragged mattresses in to sleep. It looks like a war zone. The inner harbor and the nearby stadiums (all right by Hopkins) are very nice, but are surrounded by what can only be called a ghetto.Originally posted by creekster View PostMany of the neighborhoods around Hopkins' campus are very dicey.
EDIT: "Dicey" was funny by the way.

The area around Wrigley Field used to look like that - before the yuppies moved in 25+ years ago. I remember going there as a kid and fearing for my life.
Come to think of it, old Comiskey park wasn't much better - except it was in an industrial area surrounded by bad neighborhoods. At least the security guards in the warehouses kept the bad neighborhood at bay. And "New Comiskey" is pretty much in the same place, but there's an outlet into a not-horrible neighborhood on one side, so the industrial area isn't surrounded by housing projects...

a few years ago, some insane guy went into our local Albertsons with a samurai sword and killed a couple of people, seriously injuring a few more.
Three are wounded before police kill the attacker, a bagger at the Irvine supermarket. People grabbed items off the shelves to beat back the assailant.
There is another Albertsons very close to our home, but heading in the other direction. Last year, some guy was sitting in his car behind the store and was shot at point blank.
Everyone in the ward refers to these stores as Samurai Sword Albertsons or Gunshot Albertsons.

It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

Ho hum, killing someone with a sword, how passé.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Sounds like the area around Fair Park in Dallas. Going to the fair or a game at the Cotton Bowls is an adventure.Originally posted by UtahDan View PostBaltimore has some really bad part of town. Albertsons has excellent lowfat cottage cheese. It's small curd and lightly salted. It's not as good as Mayfield, but I think it's the second-best cottage cheese I've ever tried, and I've tried a lot of them.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Posta few years ago, some insane guy went into our local Albertsons with a samurai sword and killed a couple of people, seriously injuring a few more.
