• Dueling Obamacare political ads

This is the Republicans' ad, put out by Minority Leader John Boehner:

    The is the Democrats' ad:

Both are very effective political ads, I think. The Dems' ad is more clever in that it attempts to marginalize the opposition as a bunch of whack jobs.

It remains to be seen whether either ad will resonate with the key bloc of independent voters not already committed to one side or the other in the debate. I think the Dems have a bigger problem right now than the Repubs. In any case, it should be an interesting August.

    The Democrat one is great.

Funny how the party out of power organizes protests and grassroots efforts aimed at destabilizing the current administration. Then when they get back in control, the other guys doing the exact same thing are now nutjobs.

I'm sure if the Republicans had run an ad like this in 2006, claiming Bush had a mandate because of his overwhelming victory and that moveon.org and other groups were extremists it would have gone over real well with liberals.

I liked the Republican one. Finally now the GOP has some ammo on Obama and it is directly focussed on an issue. The Democrat one is very general and does little more than get folks to dislike Republicans in hopes of support for Democrat goals to be "cool."

The concern is that I really believe the majority of independents don't support the liberal leaning Democratic goals concerning health care reform. I think everyone wants health care reformed from the perspective of soaring costs, but the majority probably favor a holistic approach of identifying everything driving up the cost and then reforming those issues. It might end up that by reforming the cost many more of the uninsured might find themselves being able to afford coverage. But there is clearly an agenda to take advantage of a crisis to ram through some of the goals fo the liberal side of the Democrat party. I just think the Democrats are missing the boat and have themselves convinced they have a "mandate from the people." Their painting anyone who opposes them into a corner of belonging to a vocal mobbish minority might embolden many of their opponents. I think the Republican add wins that battle by focussing on an issue instead of appealing to social pressure to run with the beautiful people. I think this is an actual issue that many Americans are actually engaging cerebrally and I don't think that the emotional sway of running with the beautiful people carries the same weight it did in the election.

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

I agree, for a slightly different reason. People are worried about this issue. Telling them that they are extremists, fools, or mere puppets of entrenched interests is only going to drive them away from the Democrats' position.

so when the dem's do something similar, they are simply exercising their free speech. When the Repubs do it, they are mobsters? I get it.
