And Jarid, I'm sorry you lost a loved one to cancer. That doesn't mean cancer can never, ever be used in a humorous way by anyone. We're all sensitive to certain things, but we can't go around imposing our own sensibilities on others.
I am consistent, you cur. And, I don't ever say anything about anyone in private that I wouldn't say in public.

And, another thing, while you certainly can use cancer in a funny way at times, the way that you brought this up, hoping that Shakey got cancer for something that happened on another board (lame), and then knowing that people on here had had negative experiences with cancer, means that you could think of decorum and NOT insist that you have some sacred right to use cancer lightly around people who it obviously bothers. Do you see my point?

I love that you call me "cur" while simultaneously reprimanding me for making personal comments about other posters. While claiming to be consistent. It's gold!

Who is Shakey? And I most certainly did not know that people on here had negative experiences with cancer. But come on, people have negative experiences with everything. Do you tiptoe around message boards, fearful that what you say might in some way relate to something that harmed another human being? Do you live like that?

Do you read the board often?

I'm also interested in seeing examples of me finishing "with some kind of additional commentary presuming to know what others are thinking: what the author's true intent was, what an unwritten agenda was hidden between the lines, etc."

I honestly don't know what you're talking about here.
                As demonstrated.

And it's cute how you say that you've seen others doing this, yet have no idea what I'm talking about. Troll.

                  I'd say it like this:

"with some kind of additional commentary where you have an unwritten agenda hidden between the lines"

as I try to avoid claiming to know what other people are thinking. I freely admit to having agendas to things I post sometimes, but more often than not, I'm looking for an honest response.

I call people names all the time...I'm consistent about calling falafel an ass and JIC a huge boob. I think your definition of gold is more pyritic and Pyrrhic than you might think.

You know who Shakey is, on other boards I hear he's called "Bernard;" don't be coy. I don't tiptoe around CUF--other any other one--but, if I know that someone has lost a loved one to cancer and they mention it to me, I'm not a jerkface about it after that. I actually care about other people's feelings. If you don't, then maybe you're not a good fit for this forum; I hear CB is full of callous oneupmanshippers.

Her opinions on the 2nd amendment were given prior to Heller, which to me seems irrelevant now. Even though her politics are for gun control, she's taking Souter's place, who was among those of the dissenting opinion to begin with. It's not like she's disrupting the balance of the the court on this one. I doubt any of the conservative judges will willingly let go of their seats anytime soon and allow for a change of power. Accidents happen but I think it will take a lot more than Sotomayor to change the Heller ruling anytime soon.

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

So don't get all uppity with me about injecting personal comment into my posts. I don't get what you're worried about.

Actually, I didn't know that. And I was talking about Pete.

Find where someone on CUF directly told me they lost a loved one to cancer. I cannot recall such an instance, but you apparently do. Quite clearly.

I really do agree with what you're saying, but I also agree that she is the most anti-2nd Amendment judge there is on any court in the country. That she was picked by Obama - the most anti-2nd Amendment President in this country's history - was no accident.

I'm starting to think you're too dumb to know that you're dumb. Forget what I said. I love you, JohnnyLingo. I hope you get lots of PMs from people saying how wrong we are in this thread.

I don't think you get what is at issue. The issue is not "Joking about cancer". My G-ma made some pretty funny cracks about her situation, I have patients who poke fun at themselves and their frailities. I joke with them as well, as long as that door has been opened for me to do so.

The issue is hoping someone comes down with a fatal disease because you don't like them.

If you are so obtuse not to understand that difference, then you deserve the derision that flows your way.

Perhaps this is just a restatement of what Pellegrino is saying, but I don't think she'll change the make up of the court much, given who she is replacing.

I do think it's admirable that a hispanic woman is on the court, but I am in agreement that her judgements aren't always "wise."
