From my electrical engineer background I see a some problems:

- I think the battery in that clock is two small (not enough amps) to generate the heat needed ignite the explosive.

- The x-ray of the bomb indicates the wires are not even connected to anything on the clock.

- The amazon listing doesn't indicate that the car clock has an alarm function. One would think that an alarm circuit would be the trigger for the bomb.

- Making the bomb to be triggered by a clock/alarm is stupid. You want it to blow up when someone opens the package. e.g., use a photocell to trigger it so it blows up when it sees light.

if it was meant to be a hoax I don't think they'd put the real components together and purposely not connect everything correctly. Just make a fake bomb, not a real one with the pieces not quite working right. This seems more like a nutjob who got tipped over the edge and suddenly decided to throw something together.
