I vote for a pretty even combination of Rs and Ds in my state and local elections. But I make one comment about how my personal observations don’t comport with AOC’s platform, and you’ve labeled me a right wing nut job.

Your comment, while in jest (I think), is pretty much a microcosm of why Trump is our president. As exasperated as they are that it happened, the Dems need to look no further than a mirror to see exactly how Trump got elected.

So true. Casting no aspersions on Frank, but the Left is very prone to demonize those that don't fall in line with their way of thinking. It can be brutal. Look at how much mileage K Harris is getting out of that attack on Biden. Really? Biden is a racist? Oh sure, she says she doesn't believe he is, but that he is one is the implication of that attack.

And it's not lost on people. My youngest is 19 and just coming into his own politically. Trump was in town and he wanted to go see him. One thing he has noted watching the dialogue is the propensity for the Left to mock, deride and dismiss those that don't agree with them. As he would say, "I'm just sayin'."

Anyone who puts forward not hurting social programs is castigated as a dangerous socialist. The NRA ads portrayed liberals as the enemy of the country.

Let’s also not absolve those responsible for Trump, GOP voters.

Its pertinent to the discussion, but it is amusing that when confronted with something left does poorly, your response is always to point out that the right does it just as poorly (or WORSE!) instead of acknowledging that it is an issue for the left. That is whataboutism at is best and does nothing to further discussion.

It’s amusing and annoying, how you always like single me out. I’m challenging the narrative that the left is an especially bad actor when it comes to that behaviour. I’ve been more critical of individuals on the left than a lot of folks have of those who line up with their politics but you ignore that shit.

Yesterday on facebook my neighbor posted a Fox News article about the massive hail storm. He said it was "criminal" that the article did not note that climate change caused this. I gave him a mini-lecture on weather vs. climate, and said that some of us would prefer just the facts without a seasoning of dogma, especially from reporters who probably aren't climatologists and are unfit to draw such connections. Later in the day I heard the hail storm in Mexico story on NPR, and they didn't mention climate change. They did say it was caused by a highly unusual combination of weather conditions. I replied to his post and said I was shocked at this fake news from NPR. We went back and forth.

Voters on the Right are well aware of how they are viewed by those on the Left. HClinton put great voice to that. My son has felt it in conversations with friends and colleagues. In many ways it is very vitriolic and demeaning. Not that you engage in this. My sense is that the Right goes after candidates; the Left goes after candidates and the voters, and judges the voters to be somehow lesser.

And that causes people to retreat and defend and commit themselves to stick it to the man, to the detriment of us all. Biden seems like a guy that can bridge that gap.

I see what your saying. I think that is more true with the whole MAGA crowd phenomenon. A different type of voter drawing more derision. But (brace yourself falafel) I don’t the right stocks to the candidates who their vitriol. Look no further than the use of the term “far left.” When have heard a conservative talking head talk about a moderate liberal or just a liberal? It’s always “far left socialists.”

Trump has changed the dialogue game for both parties, and not for the better. The best thing for conservative America and for America would be a rejection of him in 2020.
