I wish more people would have followed suit. There really is no excuse for being in the GOP now.
Romney had a lot more backbone and bite than Flake did. Cheney as well. I didn't vote for him for POTUS and don't regret it but I have a lot of respect for him. The GOP left him. Also, he is a lot more admirable than Huntsman who has backed Trump, Mike Lee and anyone else with an R before their name. Huntsman's presence is the emotional manifestation of an amoeba's body.

You can spin it that way if you like. I think he had a very good chance to win a re-election based on recent poll numbers in Utah. But his "I am too old" argument is very compelling and believable. Biden and Trump should follow his lead.

Oh I believe he could win election. He is just exiting public office like Flake and Liz before his time. Or maybe it is his time-- who wants to serve for that long? I wouldn't. We do need an age limit. Strom Thurman, Orrin Hatch, Mitch McConnell-- all these lifelong 'appointments' need to end.

We do have minimum requirements in place. Why not maximum?

            • Doesn't Ann have MS? It makes all the sense in the world to live his last fifteen years enjoying some of the money he's made.

Why not? It goes great with his favorite meat, hotdog. Stands to reason it would go well with other meats.

Bro my ass would be back at that La Jolla estate ASAP surfing and taking my grandkids to Legoland. And back up to Park City for little winter vacations. OMG f being a MAGA piñata for another 6 years trying to convince his 'fellow' Republicans to not be anti-democracy Putin pawns. He has wayyyy better stuff to do. Good for him!

I don't think we necessarily need an age limit, just see if they can say "Person. Woman. Man. Camera. TV." multiple times in order.

                        • I'm pretty sad about Mitt retiring, but mostly concerned about mbn and how he's taking the news. Hope he's well.

Yeah, where is that guy? We need an intervention.

                            • This changes nothing.

                              Write in Mitt!!!
                              Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

                              • I listened to The Dispatch podcast featuring an interview with McKay Coppins about his new book, Romney: A Reckoning. It was interesting but I wasn't going to buy the book until I read Trump's review:

Putting aside the facts that Coppins, not Romney, wrote the book, and that Trump pretty clearly hasn't read a book in decades, if ever (other than perhaps, The Art of the Deal), Trump continues his stranglehold on the title, Biggest Asshole in Politics Today. His review impelled me just now to order the book.
