This was timed pretty well. An excellent Coppins piece in the Atlantic. Read it for everything; Romney revealing McConnel/Hawley/Cruz et al for the utter cowards they are, reliving the righteous but lonely 2 votes for impeachment, him essentially agreeing that there's no place for him in the GOP and musing with Manchin about starting a third party, and unfortunately his habit of putting ketchup on salmon :

He has utterly torpedoed any good will he has remaining with the GOP. Maybe with time he'll finally be seen as a politician with integrity, but it might be after he's gone. But he's leaving on his own terms and with a clear conscience. Good for him. I wish him well.

With time? Anyone with an ounce of integrity recognizes his statesmanship now. Whether they admit it or not.

I don't think his seat is that safe. He would beat any Democrats, sure, but Republican primaries are a funny thing and he is absolutely vulnerable to a MAGA challenger.

Wow good for him. I’m tempted to say he can say whatever he wants because he has a safe seat. But there’s other GOP senators in safe positions also. Why is he the lone voice?

Apparently integrity/courage is hard.

Trump is most likely to get the nomination and it will be a gift to democrats. He has no prayer of winning. He is far more toxic now than he was last time around.
