I don't understand his end-game. It seems as if he is only giving himself advice. Traditional game-planning suggests that he play nice with the GOP establishment, disagreeing vehemently on key points but appear to be part of the GOP team. By being the odd man out from the get go, his complaints about any particular issue will lack credibility.

It sounds as if he is positioning himself for another run in 2020. However, he has no base to capture either party. He's not liberal and progressive enough for the Dems and he lacks any true libertarian or conservative credentials for the GOP. What's his gameplan? To appease the Koch family?

By what metric? Hillary was the most qualified and smartest person to ever run for president. Not to mention, but Hillary raised more money in 2016 than Obama did in 2012. Obama's qualifications before running for president were a community organizer, civil rights attorney, state senator, and half term US senator.

RMoney lost 206 to 332... (margin of -126)

Drumpf won by 304 to 227... (margin of +77)

I lack the energy to look it up, but as I recall, Trump and Hillary had the lowest net favorability readings of any presidential candidates in history, with Hillary's negatives slightly exceeding Trump's, and substantially exceeding Obama's. But, as I reluctantly acknowledge, Trump won!

I guess that folks just held their noses and threw their money at Hillary nevertheless.

          • Romney did better than Trump in several ways.

He got a higher percentage of the votes (47.17% vs 46.04%)
He got a higher percentage of eligible voters than Trump (27.83% vs 27.20%)

Clinton performed far worst than Obama on any kind of vote metrics.

This graphic kind of proves your counter points Ted.

The candidates were so bad they couldn't even keep all their electoral college members voting for them. Go Spotted Eagle!

Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan: Trump won those three by a combined total of about 70,000 votes. Those states seem to be swinging the other way now if you go by what happened in 2018. The tariffs are not popular in the midwest. If those go to the dems in 2020, Trump comes up 12 votes shy of 270. If he holds onto all the rest he still needs to flip enough states to get those 12 he would need. Also take into account a couple of states that were red last time like AZ and IA could flip to blue. Minnesota, Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico are his best shots for him to turn red, but far from easy to do in any of them. I don't think it looks good for his reelection right now.

Yeah, it was too bad that RMoney couldn't swing Michigan and Massachusetts... I guess they know him too well there unlike Utah.

I guess that Drumpf just understood how the election game is played better than RMoney... Too bad RMoney didn't run in 2016 so we could of had a head-to-head comparison.

Hey, maybe RMoney could team up with a house member to sponsor a bill that changes the election game rules!...

                    • She bought into the electoral college as a relic of slavery thing, eh?

That argument just doesn't fly. Remember, the large states, including some slave states, were the ones that wanted proportional representation; the small states, mostly the free states concentrated in New England, proposed that each state have an equal say. Thus, it was the Virginia plan-- proposed by members of a slaveholding state-- that called for representation proportioned by population, and the New Jersey plan-- proposed by members of a free state-- that called for equal representation among each state.

So the disproportionality of which AOC and that other article we looked at some weeks ago complain was something the free states insisted on. Some relic of slavery; the slave states didn't want it and only agreed to it to placate the free states.

Nice try at changing the conversation. Who are here thinks Hillary was a wonderful candidate? You sound like Kelly Anne Conway

                        • Rand Paul on RMoney... spot on.

CAVUTO: Do you think Governor Romney, now soon-to-be Senator Romney, is phony?

PAUL: Well, I think he`s always been sort of a big government Republican. I think he never liked Reagan. Back in `94, when he ran against Kennedy, he says, oh, I wasn`t a Reagan supporter. I was an independent back when Reagan was running.

He also in the `80s was with the crowd that was worried that Reagan wasn`t hawkish enough. You remember when Reagan started talking to Gorbachev, when we had the beginnings of really 30 years of decent arms control with the Soviet Union? That came from Ronald Reagan. And the hawks hated him for it. In fact, Romney was part of the crowd...

CAVUTO: But Ronald Reagan also said, Senator, everyone should acknowledge the 11th Commandant, that no Republican should speak ill of other Republicans.

                          (LAUGHTER)
CAVUTO: All right. So when you hear this back and forth and Mitt Romney and what he might be doing, some have said he is setting himself up for a presidential run and hoping in the meantime that the president is so politically wounded that he`s ripe for the taking.

                          Do you agree with that?

PAUL: You know, I sure hope not.

I think that, if there were an election between Donald Trump in a primary and Romney, I think Romney would be wiped out. And people ought to think about, Republicans ought to think about whether or not sort of this big government, let`s always be at war everywhere kind of Republican is what we want.

Donald Trump actually won by being a different kind of Republican, by being a Republican who said, you know what, we`re not going to waste all of America`s taxpayer dollars overseas. It`s time for some of those countries to stand up, pay their fair share and take care of their own people, and we`re not going to keep paying forever.

That was a tremendous breath of fresh air. And that`s what Romney hates about it. Romney`s part of this crowd that wants to send our money forever to all these foreign countries.
LOL... Paul thinks RMoney is a dumbass.

Mitt got more votes than Trump did.

how does Rand Paul know what Romney thought about Reagan's arms talks with the Soviets ten years before Romney was even in politics? His 94 senate challenge to Ted Kennedy was his first try at running for anything.

Rand Paul hasn’t aged well. So sad he turned into a Trump-Kremlin courtier, not to mention tried to get a lot of sanctions lifted on Russian scumbags.
