I'm trying to reconcile the ideas of gender equality and avoiding any form of sexual harrassment, with the fact that I must (and pretty much do) treat women and men differently when I make an observation about their appearance. For example, if a guy who rarely dresses well shows up in a nice suit, shirt and crisp tie, I'll almost certainly comment (a snark-free compliment, honest!). But I'm beginning to think that any compliment given to a woman under similar circumstances will be seen as sexist, demeaning or worse. I assume it's better to say nothing. What do you do?

Ask where they're interviewing that day.

The other concern about gender equality is "being with the guys." Many women have correctly observed that a lot of business is conducted away fro the office. One complaint is that the guys will invite each other and not the women. This probably happens with women's only groups, but if you adjust for that and invite the women, are you being sexist if you treat them like one of the guys?
In your scenario, I make it more neutral, "you look sharp today!" You're not focusing upon femininity, just that things look like they are clicking. Now I am probably wrong but I usually don't receive negative vibes from that approach.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”
I’m still trying to decide if someone that is 94 and in a wheelchair and sitting next to his wife can sexually assault someone else. I guess the answer is yes

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Hell no. Good grief.

Well, if he does it over and over again and cracks copafeel jokes, then maybe? Of course, he might just be delusional and not in his right mind. In any case, I’d give him a pass.

I’ve spent a ton of time in rest homes over the last 5-10 years. Old people, both men and women, who are suffering from senility lose their inhibitions and do lots of crazy things, including exposing themselves or peeing in the trashcan. This is not sexual assault. Just an artifact of aging. It’s bad enough that someone has to suffer through the indignities of old age, but let’s not make it even worse by accusing them of sexual assault.
Are we going to go after little kids and mentally disabled people next?

This. HW is universally adored by the locals of Kennebunkport, and even people who hated his presidency will say he is kind and generous. It's pretty easy to lift his had to your waist; I see nurses do it all the time in the local care center. I tend to believe his spokesman's explanation that he can't keep his hand up and makes a joke about it. Regardless, it's a shame that he and his family have to deal with this. I put him with Truman and Carter as the modern Presidents with the most admirable moral integrity.

This is getting out of control. Is it even possible to go after real problems any more without the mob looking to burn anything that moves?
I would say the HW thing is a result of the fact that everything from a spank to gang rape is now under the blanket term sexual assault. I think this causes a lot of problems for victims and the accused. But what do I know? I'm not a lawyer.

My 12 yo niece mentioned casually yesterday that she had been sexually assaulted earlier that day. "WHAT?!!!" Some boy had smacked her on the bum. "Oh..."
I agree with Omaha. I don't think this broadening of the definition is a good thing.
I somehow watched the lame Orville show last night. The premise of the episode was that an earth-like society had socially evolved to an unstructured democracy where social media likes and dislikes became the law and mob rule became the rule. If you got a certain number of dislikes it was a criminal offense punishable by electric shock therapy for correction. Kind of reminded me of a Black Mirror episode but with much worse writing and acting. Anyway this discussion made me think of it. Where will these SJW mobs end? The outrage starts off as a good check and balance for poor behavior but it seems to spiral well beyond what common sense would deem appropriate.
