      Agreed.
We all trust our own unorthodoxies.

But to me these clips are just like any other congressional hearing: the member of Congress has an army of staff writing up talking points and gotcha statements to try to make the opposing witness look as bad as possible. Then they get to hide behind a mic and a nameplate and pretend to be virtuous and outraged, but if they were ever in the witness chair they would look as bad or worse because they have no real skills other than political posturing. The whole thing is revolting political theater.

Right, then let's not act like he's a poor picked on baby when I posted a funny clip of him looking confused. But really odd with all the ridiculous congressional hearing grandstanding examples out there people choose to be indignant over these two ladies. Pretty lame actually.

He is slimy. He needs to return that money he stole that was paid by the other slimeball in the White House. I guess we can rule his candidacy out.

              • Trump just lost another court case related to defying Congressional requests for information, just like he's eventually going to lose with the courts on trying to prevent people from appearing to answer questions to Congressional committees. In the first case of these two that were decided over the last week his lawyers' dumb argument that the concept of Congressional oversight basically doesn't really exist was ripped to shreds by the judge. It makes me think Trump is the one who insisted they use that.

One speculation has been that Trump is just trying to use a strategy of running out the clock until the election, assuming the court cases will take really long to decide. It turns out the judicial branch seems to consider these cases important enough to put on the fast track. [TED: insert goofy picture of Brett Kavanaugh here]

That's actually one of the few logical explanations I've heard. Another is that he's a syphilitic idiot whose staff won't tell him no because they'll be instantly fired.

lol. Between ordering his people to refuse to comply with subpoenas, be it for documents or testimony, to Bill Barr's shady antics this definitely seems like a cover up. I'm with Mitt Romney, I'd also like to hear from Mueller soon.

Carson isn't out there promoting legit socialism or a GND that would completely break the economy (in addition to being ludicrously infeasible). He didn't understand a couple of questions. Sorry, I can't muster any outrage over that.

Carson isn't promoting anything, because he is doing well to remember to get to work at the same time every day, and what room his office is in. It wasn't outrage, it was humorous. Amway and Oreos? That's pretty funny. It's genuinely odd for people to pick this relatively benign exhange to plea for civility, when we have had several other awful contenious and rude hearings and exchanges with ample grandstanding and insults from both sides.

If you think lack of civility isn't ok with Carson, you shouldn't think it's ok with AOC either.

I don't know about a GND, I haven't read up on it. We need to make significant environment changes, but it sounds pretty onerous, and I put stock in what you think on that issue as scientist. As to others issues of "legit socialism," we'd probably disargee on the definition, and would definitely agree that it serves as a green light for maltreatment.
Especially with this mess of an administration the GOP has been shoving down our throats the last few years, status quo is not a long-term option for our national political and governmental health.

calling it "outrage" is a little much.

Were you supposed to be outraged? I thought it was worth a chuckle.

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf
