  • Any thoughts..

of Obama's firing of Walpin last week?

It seems a bit suspicious that a guy who blew the whistle on an Obama ally gets fired for doing his job.

No wrongdoing by the Obama administration here. After all, he promised the most transparent and ethical administration ever, right?

This was the first I had seen on this. Thanks. It certainly is disconcerting. Couple that with the White House's denial of access to the records of official visitors and its a little disheartening to see some backtracking on the promises of an open administration.

        Don't they all?
Col. Klink: "Staff officers are so clever."
Gen. Burkhalter: "Klink, I am a staff officer."
Col. Klink: "I didn't mean you sir, you're not clever."

Certainly, but boy, did Obama supporters believe him on this one. I had more than one tell me he was the real deal.

Huh, guess it turns out he's just like every other politician. That's odd.

Perhaps I am overly jaded but none of this surprises me. Politicians are what they are. You don't get to that level of politics without being a slimeball. Republican, Democrat, who cares.

What's more disconcerting is that there is so little media coverage of it. The media went nuts when Bush fired those attorneys, yet there is very little interest by it when this happened. In both cases, the firing seems to be/seemed to be politically motivated.

Sometimes you luck out on the media cycles. Despite having 24 hour programming of news networks, they still generally do 30 mins to 1 hour of news that they then cycle. It could be luck, or it could be a conscious plan to minimize the firing, that it came out when it did.

Regan's team was the first to really try and manage the media, which they did to great effect (he wasn't the great communicator for nothing), and it has been a part of politics since. Major stories often come out in clumps b/c of this.

It looks bad from this article, but I need to read more before I am comfortable with calling it cronyism.

That's the problem I'm lamenting in my other post. There is virtually no coverage of this.

                      Agreed about Reagan.

I'm one to believe that the media leans farther to the left each with each administration. I really can't prove it, but based on reporting of events, it looks that way to me.
